good for you for thinking so positively!!! i started remeron two months ago and it was great for my anxiety (not so much for the depression ... but that is another story and everyone is different!). remeron is also supposed to be really good for sleep--when i first started taking it the feeling of rediscovering sleep was absolutely wonderful--it increases the amount of time spent in deep sleep i think. anyway, good luck!! i hope that this is the one for you! smile.gif

Hi there, Mimi,

I haven't just started this med, I have been on it for almost a year now, but it was a godsend. Like 'croser' has said, it is great for anxiety and is a wonderful sleep aid. The only common side effect that I have heard voiced is potential weight gain. But if you watch what you eat and get some regular exercise, you can avoid this SE before it occurs. Hope you have a positive experience with mirtazapine, it certainly worked well for me..

Peace and Love... wayne

LOL, Mimi,

I felt better the very first day I took mirtazapine, much better. It stopped my anxiety dead in its tracks and I haven't had any attacks since. That was nearly a year ago now, and you couldn't get me to stop taking it without the promise that you had something better. Perhaps in the future, using this one as a model, they will come up with something like it with fewer SEs, but now this is the one. Actually, the SEs are reduced as you increase dosage, funny but true. Apparently. the norepineperine effect wards off the antihistmine effect.

Sometimes, ones MH provider will add something, either an SSRI or Wellbutrin to add to the AD effects. And bupropion (Wellbutrin) also helps with the weight issue if one has trouble keep the pounds at bay. Good luck, I hope you find this med to be as useful as I have. I am taking bupropion for a slight bit of activation and now have added pregabalin (Lyrica) to smooth out the moods, and I think I have found just the right stuff. I have waited almost 12 years to be fully satisfied with my MH treatment, but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and there is no oncoming train!! lol

Peace and Love..... wayne
