hey,
I wanted to say that I'm pretty new to this forum and haven't really posted much here before. I really like the fact that this site has alot of helpful information and people.
Basically I have searched the forum and found some good information on the "honeymoon" period for WB and had a few question I really couldn't find the answers to. I just started taking the medication last night. I took 150mg of the slow release formula right before getting into bed. Last night I did have a really hard time sleeping but woke up not feeling all that tired and like I actually had a decent amount of energy. I also noticed I didn't feel like I wanted to really cry about anything. I was still concerned about stuff and had a bit of worry but I don't feel like I want to cry.
What most people describe for the honeymoon period though is usually an extremely happy period. I do have to say that as my day has gone on I have hit some periods where I have been very happy but I'm not really extremely happy, just feeling even and normal. Which to me is good cause the day before I was in a fairly bad place.
What I wanted to know was, at this dosage how many people have experienced an extreme high during the honeymoon period. I think it has not been as extreme for me because of the low dose but I wanted some other experienced opinions. I also wanted to see how many people have had little effect during the honeymoon period and had the medication work out well for them in the long run. I will be continuing to take it for the suggested time period but I wanted some other experienced opinions.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I don't really know who to talk to about any of this. I am just really hoping this medication works for mel
Thanks for any help,
Matt

Hi Matt and welcomeani.gif to the forum,

I myself starting on the 150 Extended release and never experienced any sense of a honeymoon period. Now normally I take my dose in the morning so by the evening I'm less activated by the med and can sleep ok. But as far as noticing any immediate effect... I did not get it on the 150...as weeks went by I didn't notice any change but the people around me sure did, so clearly it made a difference just not incredibly obvious to me. About 6 weeks in I was bumped to the 300xl version and within a few weeks I did notice a positive change. This doesn't mean the 150 wasn't effective, everyone is different, but I found the normal adult dose of 300 made a bigger difference.

That being said starting at 150 made the side effects not as severe and more tolerable when I went up to 300. 150 works well for many people and that's all they need, others need an increase of dosage to really feel the impact. As always I always suggest you give it the full 6-8 weeks to determine how it does for you.

Good luck to you on Wellbutrin and if you need more information post away, were here to help..

My "honeymoon" was extra energy and focus. I didn't feel extremely high. Of course, when you've been depressed for a long time, having it suddenly lift can feel pretty exhilarating.

If WB is bothering your sleep you may want to take it in the morning.

Thank you guys for your responses! I greatly appreciate your help! I'm definitely going to stick it out the full 6-8 weeks before going back to the dr. I'm really hoping this medication works for me as well as it has worked for other people. Any other responses are still greatly appreciated but I'm really grateful to the people who have responded. I also think my situation is being made more difficult by the fact that I'm beggining to get sick. Many of the things my body goes through when it gets sick are very similar to what some would call side effects of the medication. But I think I noticed I was sick just by the fact that I took advil to reduce some of the heat my body was producing and all of a sudden my entire body started feeling better. So I think that is cloaking some of the good effects one might normally notice about the start of this medication. Either way I am sticking it out and hoping for the best in the long run.
Thanks guys and gals for all your help,
Matt

I was wondering a couple of things about the difference between the SR and XL. I am currently taking 300mg SR and today I am 1 day past 4 weeks. Now I know that I shouldnt expect a noticeable change and im not expecting anything for a couple more weeks. I do have more energy and I have cut back on smoking (a positive addition that wellbutrin can do for me :)) but as far as the AD affect I had the infamous honeymoon affect for the first couple weeks and have been miserable since. My question is, My doctor is switching me to the 300mg XL, I am getting it filled today and will be starting it tommorrow. will that have any affect on how long the the AD benefit could take? and as far as energy and what not im just wondering what I should expect if anything switching from SR to XL. thanks for any input.
