I wonder if any of you knows Hydroxycut. This is a health supplement that is usually used to fasten your metabolism, therefore you lose fat. I am currently taking Citalopram but also taking Hydroxycut. It says that it is not recommended to take Hydroxycut with SSRI but I wonder why. So far, it is not giving me any side effects.

And does taking SSRI has effect if you also take fat burners?

Thanks,

DD

Hi DD

I have never heard of it, but I do know that most weight reducing "things" can cause problems. You need to talk to your doc about this. Here, we have certain "fat burners" that can cause you not to sleep for days, so I can understand why you can't take the two together.

Things like hydroxycut (especially if it still has ephedra or ma huong in it) would not be a good mix with anti-depressants.

I took Xenadrine, which is very similar, before I ever took ADs. I would feel energized for a few days, but pretty soon I would get weird...moody, angry, and even more depressed. I've never taken them together, but I imagine it could wreak havoc on your brain.

Thanks all. That helps. Hydroxycut in one dosage is equal to two cups of coffee. I use it to burn my fat faster because the metabolism gets faster. I see the results, really. And because of the regular exercise, I became more muscular and fit: talking about well toned muscles. Probably because muscle burns fat, too, so the results are great. I took it starting December, for 8 weeks and stop for 4 weeks, that's the cycle. But then I had to take ADs.

But probably you guys are right, the SSRI is trying to calm me down, but the hydroxycut is pumping me up. I guess I'll just stop using it for a while.

Thanks all, but let this thread on, because some people exercise to get rid of the depression, try to find something to make them feel good which is trying to look good and healthy.

I think the Xenadrine bugged me out because not only does it have caffeine, it also has l-tyrosine and DMAE (in the formula I used), which can have intense psychological effects, especially when combined with caffeine or antidepressants. I found that simply drinking green tea or yerba maté or some other healthy source of caffeine helped me to gain energy and lose weight.
