And sometimes out loud!   I hear a tune and it sticks with me for hours; days sometimes. Until I hear something else.  Usually it's a piece of music I don't even like  yuck.gif

But it goes round and round .........  :music: whistling.gif until I find myself humming softly ......   ermm.gif

OH Lizzy...we had this convo at the old DF.

There is ALWAYS music in my head. No matter waht. Even in my dreams, there is music in the background. And actually, I kinda like it. Except when I get Sesame Street, Barney, or any silly radio commercial.

And I sing a lot too Lizzy! Even if other peopel are around, I don't even realize it. I sing around the house, in the car, while I amon the computer, at work, while walking if no one is around. LOL.

Lizzy...do you play any muscial instruments? Maybe we are just musicians at heart. I played piano for a while, and now I am learning the guitar.

I sing out loud in the car  wwww.gif

I learned the piano, recorder, clarinet and guitar in school; I also sang in the choir.  So at least then my humming was sensible!

It just comes from no-where, I'm not even thinking about  :music: when I find myself  whistling.gif

Yeah I really sing in the car. That is when I let it all out. For some reason, in the car, my voice sounds really good. LOL

Do you ever get annoying songs stuck in your head? Like commercials or songs you can't stand?

song in my head now "When push come to pull comes to step around this self destructive dance...."   It's an A Perfect Circle song. Luckily a song I like. A lotof times I get annoying songs in my head

I relate to songs in my life and I get little montage moments  laugh.gif in my head, it started after I was introduced to the art of making music videos from like tv shows and films to music, it's a crazed fan thing! I hear them on the radio and I'm like shocked.gif - MY SONG! And I get little me's in my head doing stuff.

OOoo and its great if you're feeling crap and you hear either your favourite song or an appropriate one (All by myself- think bridget jones ermm.gif , or I will survive and of course, She Hates me by Puddle of mud buttrock.gif- or in my case He Hates me- I love adding the rude words back in for 'em) censored.gif

OMg...I play drums on my steering wheel    I get totally into it. I used to worry that other people could see me......but I really like to sing, so to hell with them if they can't laugh about it.  :D

YES!! Whatever mood I am in, the music follows. LMAO about your ring. I do that with my rings as well. But on my desk at work. They each make a unique sound and I can play out tunes. LOL. Probably drives my office mate up the wall!

lol - I think the song in your head is a trademark of OCD.  I've never met a person with OCD who didn't have it.

It's the only part of OCD that I can really tolerate - sometimes I even like it.
"Rock ya body mic check one two - cuz it ain't a party 'til my crew run through"  :music:
At other times it's annoying as hell - like when you get some stupid song stuck in your head or you're trying to concentrate.

How did this one ended up in my head? Lol!

I sing in the car too. And sometimes I dance  :lookaround: (mostly when I'm not the driver)...

I was at a butterfly farm with hubby yesterday and my brain was so engrossed I didn't have any songs inside  :p  I managed to walk round several times watching the caterpillars and butterflys even though the place was busy and humid.  9/10!

Just waiting for the next song to make itself heard ........

I never connected the singing in my head with OCD - it was just something I did.  We should set up an OCD choir!!

I think our first worry would be whether we would all be singing the same song - then we can worry about being in tune  :biglaugh:

I heard a duet this morning from 'robert and elizabeth'.  I first heard this when I was 11 but had forgotten over the years: now it's going round my head, it really is a lovely duet.

"I know now, why there are ripples on a stream and why it's wonderful to dream,
"As dreamer's do; why there is music in the air and why it's wondeful to care; that dream is you......... "

whistling.gif ''I beg your pardon I never promised you a rose garden
Along with the sunshine there's gotta be a little rain sometime
When you take you gotta give so live and let live and let go oh oh oh oh
I beg your pardon I never promised you a rose garden

I could promise you things like big diamond rings
But you don't find roses growin' on stalks of glover
So you better think it over
When it's sweet talking you could make it come true
I would give you the world right now on a silver platter
But what would it matter
So smile for a while and let's be jolly love shouldn't be so melancholy
Come along and share the good times while we can

I beg your pardon I never promised you a rose garden.....

I could sing you a tune and promise you the moon
But if that's what it takes to hold you I'd just as soon let you go
But there's one thing I want you to know
You'd better look before you leap still waters run deep
And there won't always be someone there to pull you out
And you know what I'm talking about
So smile for a while and let's be jolly love shouldn't be so melancholy
Come along and share the good times while we can

I beg your pardon I never promised you a rose garden........'' (sung by Lynn Anderson)  :whistling:

OMG You guys are my SOUL Siblings cause I have music in my head....Going on 4 years now practically straight everyday URRRGGGHH...I used to drive myself crazy over it but i think i just got used to it cause i dont hear it much anymore.  I love music dont get me wrong it just gets annoying.  I dont have the concentration like I used to have when I was younger.

Music makes me numb out and not worry so much if that makes any sense to anyone.  I also wake up to music, dream with music and play music at night so I can sleep (relaxation type).

I have had Manic Monday in my head alot lately does anyone remember this song from the 1980's from the Bangles.

Just another Manic Monday,  Ohhhh OHH  which it where Sunday, that's my Funday,, I dont have to run day, its just another Manic Monday.. OHH  OHH,

Well you get the jist.

I fight with my husband in the car alot over the radio cause he like some old folky type music that is really annoying to me and i tell him do you want this to be stuck in my head all day.  I am such a whiner but it is so aggravating at times.

I dont know where it comes from I just think it is from childhood i used to play music constantly to block my mother's yellin out.  Either that or Space aliens implanted a broken record in my Head...LOL ???

Take Care ya all.  Make friends with your music my therapist used to always tell me....HMMM..OKey then.

Melissa :)

Melissa, can I tell you a little secret? I tend to wake up to music literally. I dream loud and mainly beautiful music often just before I wake up. Since- forever. Sometimes I want it to last and I kind of slip back into nap to ''hear'' it some more.  :lookaround: Anyone else, or is that plain weird?

Leo

usually I have the opposite problem.  If I wake up with a LOUD song in my head I cant fall back asleep.  If it is a soothing song I can usually fall back asleep.  I guess this is why I have early morning and late night insomnia cause I like

Rock and Roll like Nickelback and other stuff

Your not crazy...you just have a radio in your head like me..LOL :music:

Take care..Melissa

Run just as fast as I can
To the middle of nowhere
To the middle of my frustrated fears
And I swear you're just like a pill
Instead of makin' me better, you keep makin' me
ill
You keep makin' me ill

My poor nine year old daughter complains of this at night after she's had music in school.  She lies in bed with these little songs going over and over in her head.  The last one was "Jimmy cracks corn...."  Who wants to be awake with this going over and over again?  I heard that this is commonly referred to as a 'hearing worm'.  Can't beat that as a description!  The way I've taught her to deal with this is to sing it at the top of her lungs....  (Sorry all who live at our house.)  She gets a good laugh from this, and claims it leaves her mind and she is able to sleep.

Give it a try!   You have nothing to loose....... but the annoying song.

Thanks Jkm! I followed your advice yesterday. The song stuck in my head 'till I fell asleep but this morning is better... Now that I thought of it will probably come back...  :(   :)

Your poor baby! I know how awful that is. I've been like that since I was a kid. Except my bigger problem were always things I couldn't remember...Like I gave myself a ''job'' to remember somebody's last name and couldn't and that would keep my awake 'till I'd figure it out...  ???

Sending hearts.gif to you and your daughter!

Lizzy

I too have the lyrics to a song in my mind and it won™t go away. No matter how hard I try and block it out it just sticks in my mind. And I can™t turn down the volume. Sometimes at night I mute the TV if there is music, otherwise I™ll hear that tune all night and never sleep at all.
