I started taking sertraline 5 weeks ago, and I've been losing a lot of hair. It's not been falling out in chunks, but I notice a lot of hair on my pillow in the morning aswell as hair on clothes. But so far no one but me have noticed any diffrence to my hair.

The hair loss have slowed down a bit (it seems like), but I'm a little bit concearned, cause I don't wanna go bald on top of everything else.
So I wonder if anyone else have suffered hair loss from sertraline that has only been transient or if it keeps going at the same rate.

It sucks cause sertraline is the SSRI that's caused me the least inability to concentrate and nightmares (I've also been on citalopram/celexa and lexapro)

HI Lithionit,

I found a link to this topic for you
zoloft and hair loss

If you do a topic search for 'hair loss' there are quite a few more too.

I lose a lot of hair - not connected to meds - but it grows again quickly and noone else can tell.

I used to think I was losing a lot of hair too. Either it was me being hyper sensitive of it or it has come to a stop. I have been on the meds for 4 yrs.

hello :)
dont get too concerned about the hair loss. it happened to me too, and ive been on zoloft too. the thing to note about it is that the hair loss may not have anything to do with the actual meds, what happens is that after a particularly stressful event or time in ones life, the hair stops growing as much and sorta goes into hibernation. after a few months, usually around 4, the hair falls out more for a while, until it goes back to normal again. it has something to do with the hair growth cycle, so thats why there is a lag of a few months between the highly stressful time/event and untill it starts to fall out more. but dont worry you wont go bald or anything, its a natural response of your body to increased stress. goodluck:)
