Hi all. Well I take Ativan 0.5 mg some nights to help me sleep. I like to try not to take it too much. Anyway, I stopped taking my birth control pills a few weeks ago, and I am worried about unknowingly taking ativan if I get pregnant. I would stop as soon as I found out I was pregnant, but would it be harmful to the baby if I was taking ativan in the first few weeks of pregnancy? Also, I have read that Ambien is a better choice if you really need something to help you sleep during pregnancy, since it is a Class B pregnancy medication. Has anyone here used this during pregnancy? Well any info on these drugs and pregnancy would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!!

Hey Jen,

They do not recommend you take this med when your either planning to get pregnant or are pregnant.

I would see your doc about your concerns and see if you can have some tests done etc to insure the babies health is good if you are pregnant.

Take care,

Thanks, this is what I thought. I have talked with my dr, actually nurse practitioner, and she gave me ambien to use instead since it is a class b pregnancy medication, but I am little worried to use it because of all the side effects I have heard of from it like memory loss, amnesia, etc.. Im not sure what other safe alternatives there are for sleep during pregnancy... Well, thanks again..
