I take Provigil (along with Cymbalta) to give my mood a little boost and help fight fatigue. I've previously taken Adderall, and Provigil seems to have a much more subtle effect. I've been able to go off of it occasionally without any ill effects.
Good luck with it!

Hi Lizard,

Thanks for the info. I wonder if I could use a little of Provigil. I am so tired of feeling like crap, worrying and being so anxious. Once I find a pdoc I'll ask about it.

I asked my doc about it and she said it was like a "caffiene pill"...I wonder why so is so anti provigil. She did say it was not as addicting as some benzos. That is a major issue for me since I have addicition issues. I may ask her about it again, though, because I need so help. Some motivation and/or energy.

I find Provigil to be very gently energizing - no sudden "pow" (I feel more kick from coffee), which is probably why it's not very addictive.

My doctor perscribed Provigil to go along with the Welbutrin. My depression causes fatigue, lethargy and excess sleeping and Welbrutin is the only anti-depressant that hasn't enhanced that.

Anyway, I do like Provigil after being on it for about two months. I find that rather than give me energy, it makes me extremely focused on whatever I am doing, like seriously so honed in that I lose track of time.

The only side affect I can think of is jitterness, but I'd much rather feel jittery than drowsy.

Welcome to DF, Aimz welcomeani.gif
I'm glad the Provigil works so well for you!
I found I had to decrease caffeine when I was on WB or Provigil. Coffee, caffeinated sodas, chocolate all made me more jittery. Just a thought...

I'm another Provigil fan - it turns me from a zombie into a relatively alive human being in the mornings. All my other meds make me sleepy!!! Just wish the darn stuff was less expensive! I only take the second 200 mg at noon if I am extra tired.

I'm on my second day of Provigil w/Cymbalta. I've been on the Cymbalta for awhile, just added the PV. I'm awake (after a fashion), but goodDogamighty don't I feel like sh!t.

What was your initial experience like?

I was on Effexor and Welbutrin for severe major depression, and then my pdoc prescribed Lamictal (200x2) and Provigil (200x2).

So far with the Provigil there have been no noticeable side effects; I can even have caffeinated drinks. Also, there are no signs of addiction.

Before the Provigil I could do about 5% of what I could before the depression. With the Provigil I'm upto about 25%; I am so grateful. The Lamictal is for mood.

I was on Provigil for a year and I had no problem getting off of it and staying off when I needed to. So it is not physically addictive, at least.
