Hi - Can anyone recommend a good Private Psychiatrist in the UK? - Especially interested in finding one with an interest in "Treatment Resistant" depression.

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks

Hi and Welcome to DF Zoomclub

I am not from the UK, so don't know of anyone, but have you thought of calling the NHS and asking them for a list of Psychiatrists. Also normally you would need a referral. You could always try making an appointment with a normal doctor and ask for a list of Pdocs that you can be referred to. Another way of finding one is to get hold of a hospital and asking them for a list, or speak to a psych doc in the ER room, that can lead you in the right direction. Psychologists, also have lists of pdoc's for referrals.

I'm not in the UK either. From what other UK members have said, there are p and tdocs in private practice. I would imagine you could check the telephone book to find one. You didn't say where you are located in the UK and may get posts from all over the country.

I presume, NHS was not helping/treating you well.

Hey smile.gif

I'm from the UK as well and I found a great site which has all the professional therapists in the UK. Its the BACP site, British Association Counselling and Psychotherapy, bacp and click on the find a therapist link (should be on the right hand side of the page), you can do a search for your area and narrow it down to the type of problem you are having and want to be treated for.

Hope this helps smile.gif

Zoom,

I think last time ( a few years ago) I just used google to find one.

Not easy to sort out yourself, but I ended up just emailing someone.
