Hi there,

I've just been prescribed Pristiq and was told to take it once a day with a main meal. Has anyone had any experience with the best time of day to take this med? If I take it at night will it cause insomnia? If I take it in the morning will it be sedating during the day? What sort of side effects should I expect?

Thanks,
Jo

I take mine in the morning. I haven't had any insomnia at all, but I have read where others do have insomnia. I guess you can try it and see if it energizes you or makes you tired, and go from there. If it makes you tired, you can change it to taking in at night. The only side effects I had were some nausea, a jittery feeling and constipation. All but the constipation went away. I was a little tired the first couple of weeks after I started it, but that got better too. I feel like it gives me a boost of energy, but it helps my anxiety at the same time.

What are you taking it for? I'm taking it for anxiety, and some mild depression.

Hi Jo
I take it at night, with dinner.
My GP said that she prefers it that way.

I have been taking it for 9 days for a very physical depression, not much sadness but very flat affect, stomach problems, joint pains, foggy head, etc.
I have had the nausea, some dizzyness which has gone, some yawning, a bit of insomnia, dry mouth and sweating, at night.

I am still waiting for it to kick in, here's hoping in a few days.

JJ

im starting my 3rd week and I take mine in the morning. I have felt that i wake up a few times at night now but fall back to sleep thats why i take it early. side effects ive had so far are fatigue during the day and sweating. nothing serious, but i havent really felt any changes in anxiety or depression yet. I know this med takes time so im hoping it kicks in soon.

Sorry for digging up such an old topic, but I'm hoping to get some opinions from those who have been on Pristiq.

I am supposed to start taking it, and I'm tapering off of my Remeron. Unfortunately, after much ado, my original plan to start taking it on my day off didn't work out, so now I have my prescription for the first time and work at 8 am tomorrow. So now I'm torn about whether I should take it tonight and risk the insomnia I've read about, or take it in the morning and risk being nauseated (hopefully not vomiting though...but who knows!) at work. Or maybe I could just sit on it for another week, but I'm sort of anxious to get going on it.

Advice?
