Hey Folks
Remember that most of us at some time or another do Self Injure ourselves or have really low self esteem and low self confidence.
If you are posting anything that might potentially trigger someone ie if its something that has upset you badly or made you angry or made you hate yourself then add a WARNING.
Just add a few lines at the top of a Post such as
***POTENTIAL TRIGGER***
Which talks about cutting/self loathing/physical or sexual abuse, etc.

Try to leave five or six blank lines before typing your main message.
* No pictures of cuts or other forms of self injury
* No pictures using blood or other forms of self injury
* No graphic descriptions of self injury

Thanks. Remember we need to all of us keep ourselves safe. What is ok for you to read might become very distressing and triggering for another. THINK.
Take care

I'm new so I figured that I would try this test out. I believe it fits me very well.

The psychologist that I was seeing is "not into labels" so she refused to really talk about my BPD in those terms, which truly annoyed me. I was newly diagnosed, it's hard to find a therapist who truly understands it, let alone can treat it effectively, so I stopped seeing her. She doesn't believe in tests to determine personality disorders, and blah blah blah. But every single test I have taken has pointed to my being BPD, my Psychiatrist says I am BPD, my psych nurse practitioner says I am BPD, my GP says I am BPD, everything I have read points to my being BPD, so dammit, I am BPD!!!. But let's not "label" it mmmkay? GRRR.

So yeah, wouldn't she flip to see the results of THESE tests? LOL I'm a full blown nut! I told her so! But that's just my narcissistic histrionic personality talking! tongue.gif

I suspected most of the answers I got.

Should I print it out and take it to my pscyhiatrist? I don't tell him everything going on with me. I don't want to look for another psych either so I pretty much just let him know about the depression and anxiety but never tell him about the other things.

I know I should be in therapy but I really don't want to do that. I know some people understand this when I say I don't want to open that door because I'm afraid they'll either be a flood or I won't be able to handle it.

But I need help. Do psychiatrists look at the results of these online tests and just bawk at them?

Hi sweets128, Welcome to DF welcomeani.gif

I think each pdoc is different... some may take it very seriously and investigate the matter more while others may think it's nothing(I think the latter would not be very good pdocs tho.. but I know they are out there) I know that's not any help, but the response range can really be very different. I think it is important to be honest with your pdoc so they can help you in the best way possible. If you do have a personality disorder on top of depression then they may look at a med change, which would help you more.

I can understand not wanting to see a therapist. It can be a scary thought and hold a lot of unanswered questions. Those feelings/thoughts are very justifiable. And sometimes therapy is not at all easy, or it can make things harder at first when dealing with repressed issues... but I believe the end result is a more happy you. If you found a good therapist then they can really make a big difference in helping you. Couple things tho... if you show your pdoc that then that doesn't mean you necessarily have a personality disorder(but you very well may.. your pdoc can let you know for sure so there's no wondering/guessing)... if you do have a personality disorder then that doesn't mean you are required to see a therapist, it's still your choice whether to see one or not... if you do decide to see one then keep in mind it doesn't have to be a lifelong thing... a lot of people get better in therapy and then are able to stop going or go less frequently.

Sorry if this is kinda long or not very helpful. I hope everything works out for you =)

blimey, thatgave me pause for thought!
Here are my results:

Paranoid: Very High
Schizoid: High
Schizotypal: High
Antisocial: High
Borderline: Very High
Histrionic: High
Narcissistic: Very High
Avoidant: Very High
Dependent: High
Obsessive-Compulsive: Low

I have to admit to not knowing what some of these things mean, but I am guessing they ALL (aprat from the low obsessive one) mean I should discuss these issues with my gp right? I dont know where to begin, do I ask him to see someone in mental health, tell him in more detail how I feel and let him make his mind up, or something esle?

you know though, I am not scared of getting diagnosed with ANY of these things, more relieved that I might actually be on the right path to finding out what is wrong with me and getting help for it!

So thanks a million for posting this thread here, I already feel things becoming clearer!!

Hi Jan

I definately think its a good idea to speak to your gp and get a referral to a Mental Health specialist. If you have some sort of PD, with the right diagnosis and treatment, you can lead a much better life.

Definetly mention it to your doctor but better your counciller.
When i was first diagnosed with depression i read up on BPD and it fitted me perfectly but my GP told me i had Depression and Anxiety but BPD was not a mental illness and refused to recognise it. My counciller told me i did have BPD and my GP was wrong.
I have just returned to my GP after a bad period and this time they refused to even tell me what my illness is. Put me on meds and told me wait for the counciller to confirm, but very likely to be BPD with depression.
Hope this helps you a little bit.

Not sure what the first test was, but here are my results for the other one:

Not much of a surprise, really.

My results...

Paranoid HIGH
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: VERY HIGH (First time I hear this term)
Histrionic: Moderate
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Moderate
Dependant: VERY HIGH
Obsessive-Compulsive: HIGH

I almost knew the last two....but never thought I could be a Paranoid? or a Borderliner? (if that's the right term) I think I need a terapist.

test #1

Based on the above answer(s), your personality traits might be associated with following personality type(s):

Borderline Personality

test #2

Disorder Rating Information

Disorder | Rating
Paranoid: Moderate
Schizoid: Low
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Moderate
Histrionic: High (I don't agree with this one)
Narcissistic: Low
Avoidant: High
Dependent: High (To think I always thought of myself as independent)
Obsessive-Compulsive: High (This one surprised me ~ thought it would be moderate)

Now to go back and figure out what this all means, and then print it off to take to Psychiatrist and Psychologist.

I couldn't access Test #1.

Results of Test #2:
Disorder | Rating
Paranoid: Very High
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Very High
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Very High
Dependent: High
Obsessive-Compulsive: High

The paranoid and borderline results surprise me, as does the dependent one. The others make a lot of sense, I think.

I dont think i have an actual personality disorder. If i do then i think it would be avoidant. I knew I was paranoid but glad to see the schizoid and schizotypal are low. I've actually been to the doctor today to get treatment for one of my disorders. Woo!
