Ok so I just need some thoughts and feedback on Lexapro:

I have been on 10 mg of Lexapro for about two weeks now. My doctor tells me to take it in the morning, but I feel like it makes me drowsy throughout the day. I started to take it at night starting last night so I hope I won't feel as drowsy throughout the day. When do others tend to take their meds and do you ever notice a difference in when you take it?

Also, when i first started on it I began with 5mg (1/2 pill) and I started feeling pretty good, but then I had to increase to a full 10mg pill. I started feeling tense and just not myself. I felt like it wasn't really tackling the anxiety issue. I want to talk to my doc about this. Would it beneficial to increase dosage or decrease back to 5 mg? Did anyone else feel tense while taking Lexapro?

Thanks for reading!

Julia

Hi Pixiedust,

The drowsiness should decrease after a few weeks, although if you up your dose it may stay around a bit longer. I take my citalopram in the morning because it gives me insomnia if I take it at night, but it isn't the same for everybody. If you felt good on 5mg then that's great, but like Jimbow said, it is a very small dose and you may find that you get used to it quickly and so it stops having an effect. However again, everyone is different and it may be that big doses are too much for you. If you have concerns, definitely discuss it all with your doc and see what they have to say.
