I started taking 20mg of prozac about a month ago, after 2 weeks I upped it to 40mg.

2 weeks later, I still have no relief from my depression/anxiety symptoms.

I seem to be more calmer, but I still feel hopeless, and I have bad insomnia side effects.

I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me trazodone and celexa.

I took trazodone last nite, and it was the most awful thing ive ever took, it made me so anxious and pretty much gave me a full blown panic attack.

Eventually I fell asleep but I woke up with the worst headache ever, and so groggy and dizzy.

My question is, should I try giving the prozac more time? or try the celexa?

Im definately never taking the trazodone again, also I was zoloft for a month, and that didnt help either... Im so frustrated :/

So sorry you are having such a hard time right now.

I am into my 2nd week with Prozac, but I am changing over from Lexapro and so far I am ok (not getting depressed weaning off Lex and upping Prozac). I sure wish you were having good luck with it.

I had great results with Zoloft as well until it "pooped out" 8 years ago.

Maybe you should talk to your doctor again and look into a SNRI instead of a SSRI, it looks like the SSRI's aren't working too well for you. I would definately call your doctor again and let him/her know that you aren't getting any relief. Usually 4-6 weeks you should have some relieve.

I wish you the best and keep us posted.

Hi Spaceboy

It can take up to 8 weeks to work into your system properly and have a full effect, you may also get side effects with a med increase.
So you need to give it more time.
Also remember that meds do not completely take your depression away, they enable you to feel better, take the edge off and enable you to manage your life better.
Setting yourself goals and therapy can help as well.

Hi Spaceboy,

I've been on it for 48 days now and I think it's working pretty good. I don't feel sad anymore. I don't feel much of anything, bad or good. Nevertheless, it's working.

I started at 20mg/day and upped it to 40 like you. I had trouble going to sleep and staying asleep at night. My doctor prescribed me zopiclone/rhovane 7.5mg. Excellent sleep aid.

Don't give up. If it doesn't work, try something else. Good luck.
