my problem is mostly anxiety but my doctor prescibed zoloft i'v been taking it for only a week & i feel miserable...

Is this normal & will i feel better in time? I just dont think this med is for me...

Any thoughts will be appreciated...

Hi Screenman,

I don't take zoloft but it is pretty standard for any anti-depressant that they take up to 6 weeks to start working properly. You can often experience negative effects before the positive ones happen and an increase in anxiety during this time is also common. I would suggest that it's worth sticking it out if you can because any med is likely to take this settling in period and it's good to avoid the merry-go-round of meds if you can. Of course if it's unbearable then go to see your doc asap.

yea these anti depressants takes quite a while...hang in there...

im taking lexapro for my gad...on week 3 its tough..oh yes..but..hang in there

One thing about these meds is that thouygh they work well you have to wait until they saturate your system to really start working. You will feel better and it does take 6 to 8 weeks to feel it. I know its hard but hang in there.

I was very happy with zoloft but the last few weeks ive been feeling real down... Thinking about getting old constantly runs through my head too much, loss of energy, and the anxiety has come back a little...I feel like stopping the meds but scared too.What to do???? sadwalk.gif

Definatly get with your Dr. Let them know what you feel. Usually that will help

Yes maybe but im so frustrated im tired of taking zoloft i dont even like tylenol...

When I say quitting, I mean weaning. I am concerned about the side effects but if I handled them at the start then I guess I can handle these ones. I take citalopram though, not zoloft. I only started today - went down from 40mg to 30mg and am fine so far. We shall see how it goes!

I agree , you really have to give it time and see how you go.
Im on 100 mg of Zoloft.

As long as you are working with your Dr. to come off of the med and start a new one the side effects shouldn't be that bad. You do have to give meds time to start and stop. Just listen to your body.
