Hi, does anyone else seriously enjoy their manic highs? Sometimes, actually rarely, I get annoyed with the highs as I feel I am too happy and that can't be normal. But mostly I love them. It's like being on drugs without the side effects. I even have people come up to me and ask me if I have taken anything cause even my pupils get big. I love them so much I almost would rather experience them than leveling out my moods and not go through the depressive cycles. Of course I am thinking like this now as I am in one of my manic moments and I know once I start 'coming down' my view will change. But does anyone else struggle with the decision whether or not to get help and level out your moods or to embrace the good parts of being bipolar and enjoy being extremely high naturally?

Hi and Welcome SweetCore

Many people to enjoy the highs, as they can be very productive sometimes.
You can feel so good on a high, but you can also feel terrible too and then knowing that, the big crash will inevitably come.
The depression following a high is really terrible.
That is why it is so important to keep your moods stabilized.

A part of me knows how important it is to keep your mood stabilized, but without the extreme highs and lows I almost don't feel like myself anymore. It is hard to talk yourself into getting help even if you know it will not only benefit yourself but also those close to you

I couldnt live without the highs. They make me creative, productive, spontanous, happy and they make me feel alive.
I´m afraid to lose that once I start therapy. I want to get help for the horrible depressive phases I have, but I hope I´ll never lose the other part.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been on meds to help my moods but I found myself trying to chase the highs I would normally get naturally but no longer were as strong. Don't do the same mistake I did and just stop the meds. Talk to your doc and make sure you are taking the right doses. Good luck with your new therapy. I hope it helps you.
