I live in the Rocky Mountains in Utah. There is a small community living within a 12 mile canyon and I am proud to say my bed faces a large window that loks out into one of the most beautiful scenes on earth. Tall green mountains with wild life, fresh air each morning and pure mountain water no need for bottled water here.

I really love the weather, living in the tropics. I love the humidity and the heat. I love the seasons, wet season, in which it buckets down, and the dry season where, you guessed it, it doesn't rain. I have no idea when the traditional 4 seasons are :P

I like how it doesn't take long to get anywhere. I like how close the bush is, and how there is smatterings of bushland here and there in the suburbs, and all the wildlife that seems to coexist with us here. I love the vibrant colours of the Top End. I really love the thunder storms and rain. I love where I live, I love the tropics, and I love the bush. :)

Poughkeepsie New York. I was born and raised in The Bronx but moved upstate in 1986 to work for the state psychiatric center here in Poughkeepsie.

Now I am moving back to live in the upper west side of Manhatten. I am not too happy about the move except that my fiancee lives here. The big city produces a lot of fear. My car was towed the first time I spent an overnight, It cost $65 for the ticket and $ 250 for the tow. I fought the ticket to a hearing but it is useless as they are stacked against the public.

The pace is mad fast and it is noisy as heck, All the prices for food are sky high as well as rent etc. The subways are hot, sticky and mostly overcrowded. The apartment is small and my cat is sad and hiding under the bed most of the time. The latter I believe will change as she is slowly getting used to being here. I will move in for good next month or November.

The good part is of course my love being here. I belong to a recovery fellowship so, I'll have friends still to meet. there is a lot to do down here and lastly, I've found some wonderful spots near the river's. There is both the majestic Hudson river and the swift flowing East river. The 'Greenway" gives a lot of open space to jsut sit and enjoy the view or fish.

Anyway, sorry to go on and on but I am in a major transition and it is very, very stressful.

Southwestern Vermont!

Weather. I get a bit nervous about natural disasters, but we hardly get anything noteworthy here. The VERY rare tornado, maybe a small little burp of an earthquake... Not very scary at all. :D

The town I live in has been getting progressively bigger - if what you want isn't in the nearby parts of New York, you'll probably be coming to my town to get it! The downside to that is SO many tourists, especially in the leaf-turning season, which is almost upon us.

The only thing I really hate are the winters. I mean, sure... Gotta have snow in the winter, but it's overkill here sometimes. When I was really little, I hated it because I had to stand for the schoolbus in this windy -10 degree (f) weather, and it'd always be late.
I much prefer some sun.

But anyway, town is getting bigger, but it'll never have that gritty, unfriendly big city feel. Granted, I don't like going out because it does get busy, but I'm not scared of gangs or crazy traffic. (That's just the Massachusetts drivers. ;) I kid, I kid. )

I love Vermont - It's beautiful and it would take a LOT to get me to consider leaving!
(Plus, we have Cabot cheese! Woooooo cheddar! )

I live in Karratha, North West Western Australia. I've moved from Townsville north east Queensland, Toowoomba south east QLD, Melbourne (capital city) Victoria (most southern capital city on mainland), to Karratha in only 7 years (thanks Australian army!) It is the final frontier, wild wild west part of Australia. Very hot, verrrryyy red (from all the iron ore) and very undeveloped (unlike the east coast of Australia is now). The locals are friendly and easy going.

I'm in north-east england.
And, to be honest, the only thing i like about it is the fact that i have a half-decent shop just round the corner. And we have lots of frogs in the garden cause the weather is so miserable 99% of the time.

But we do have lots and lots of countryside, lots and lots of great huge oaks and willows. They're rather beautiful too. :)

I am in France.
This country is not as sweet as it seems, but it's not worse than anywhere else
I live in the center of the country in a region called Auvergne.
Lots of forests to explore, castles, strong history and life is not too expansive. People are a bit reserved though

I live in San Francisco, California. I'm a city girl at heart and love the diversity and cultural opportunities that SF has to offer. We have all the things that a big city like New York or Chicago have to offer but on a much more managable scale. The city is 7 by 7 miles or as we say, 49 square miles of paradise surrounded by the United States. Attitudes are very liberal and accepting of different types of people. I'm originally from LA but SF is my home and where I expect to spend the rest of my days...hopefully in a bigger apartment! dry.gif

Hi Claire, and welcome!

We spent a week in San Fran for vacation and loved it! It is sooo diverse. We loved Chinatown and Ghirardelli Square and the beach right there. Of course that may be all the touristy areas, and you know San Fran for more of that, but it really is a great town! Also we liked the surrounding areas like Oakland and Vallejo.

I'm gladd you enjoyed your stay! I like the street fairs and festivals we have. Pride Month is the most famous one but each neighborhood has one too. My partner works in marketing for fine arts organizations so we get a lot of comp tickets to theater events and the symphony. Those are the things I enjoy as well as just the everyday stuff. I gave up driving 6 years ago and do a lot of walking around the city and riding on public transportation. It's a city of characters both good and bad.

Sunny and green all the time. Now cold or snow to worry about. Beach close to my house.

Excessive humidity in the summer and hurricanes do put a damper on things.

We have all 4 seasons....but mostly we have snow. Lots and lots of snow. And -35 degrees celsius. Last year we had snow on the ground for 9 months. But I wouldn't give it up for the world. The summer is glorious and the scenery and outdoors are to die for. And white isn't a bad colour is it?

I live in Houston, TX. I enjoy the fact that there are so many people in Houston, that it has a very nice social scene and makes making friends a relatively straightforward process. Of course, is it worth the traffic, humidity, 5-6 month "summers", and pollution? Eh... but I digress, this was meant to be a positive post. So I will keep it that way :)

I live in a small town which I like. I like that it's an easy trip to a beach to go fishing or surfing or a native forest for peace and quiet, but just as easy to go see a movie or check out a shopping mall. Everything's always green and lush. Nice warm sub-tropical climate, but when it rains it RAINS.

Miami, Florida, I hate it. It's like living in South America (I can say that as I am hispanic and therefore it is as much a ethnic/racial slur as self hate). Beaches are crap down here, people are shallow, dumb, vulgar.
I think that covers So. Florida .

funny stuff!

Humor is what gets us by on bad days. I wonder if you are working in Japan or a native? Sad to admit it but I only knew on man from Japan, He suffered from depression and was a real nice fellow.

Canada is awesome as is parts of America, Austrialia is but a dream to me. I saw movies from downunder but am not sure they capture the real country

Toronto, Ontario! I love that there's so much diversity here ... cultures spread out and (mostly) accepted by all. I am a bit tired of the the hectic city life and long for the chance to move away.

I live in Iowa. I love the fall, with the changing leaves. Other than that, I pretty much hate it. Summers are too hot and humid, winters are long and cold. I HATE the cold. It makes me miserable. It's a pretty conservative area, culturally and politically, which my boyfriend and I don't like at all. Most people here are Christian and Republican - neither of which we are. We are planning to move away - the only reason we haven't yet is money and my family is here.

I live in Chicago, Illinois and it's a beautiful city, I live far north of downtown though. There's a three minute walk to the lake (Lake Michigan,) and it's great to take chairs down there at night and to watch the waves and the sunset if we're lucky. I've noticed that there are a lot of folks from the US on here! I hope I make even more great friends, and hey, maybe one day me and a good friend will meet one another half way and visit awhile. Dream on ds right? Lol.. darkshadow.

I live in a very small town in South Central Wisconsin. Just north of Madison WI. I lived in Madison all but the last 6 years. Not including my years in the service. Madison was getting to big for my style so I decided to move a little north. I really like it here..well this last summer we had four tornadoes all getting to close for comfort. Then we had the bad summer flooding which destroyed many homes and crops in the area. Once again I came out of that ok. Wisconsin is a nice place. The people are great. The three seasons I really like Summer, Fall & Spring. I just hate winter and then I wonder why the *** do I live in such a place when the tempature falls below 30 degrees below zero and the snow blows so you can't see the other side of the road..YUCK! I'm getting to old for this. I often think about moving to a warmer climate but I bet I never will. Every where you go has it's up's and downs. So I guess Wisconsin is the best place for me. Wisconsin if great for hunting, fishing, Skiing (if you like that sort of fun). Ther's alot to do and alot to see.

Australia, Northern Territory. (I still don't understand why Australia has boring names like "Northern Territory", "Western Australia" and "Australian Capital Territory", I mean, it's very unimaginative)

I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. It is a growing city with more jobs than people. We have a beautiful river valley. Just wish the winters were not so long...lol

¡Hola! I´m English but live in Spain, it´s a beautiful country and living near the sea is an instant mood booster, although depression affects a lot of people here too. Better than rainy Manchester, although I´m a northern lass at heart and love going back for the warmth and humour of my beloved northerners.

Toronto, Ontario! I love that there's so much diversity here ... cultures spread out and (mostly) accepted by all. I am a bit tired of the the hectic city life and long for the chance to move away.

Same here.. I live in Tdot too. :) The fast-paced, hectic city life does get overwhelming.

I'm in Texas. I've lived here all my life. I hate the cold, so I like it here. I didn't care for the hurricane that blew through here in September, but we did okay.
