I used to take lexapro 20mg about 1 year ago for GAD and xanax 1mg for panic attacks.

I'm a 22 year old male, 6'2 180pounds
I quit taking my medican because i had severe drinking problems and i just chose to choose drinking insted of taking my medican. I quit drinking 4 months ago an i asked my doctor to re-proscribe me the same thing i was taking and she did. Now when i take my lexapro 20mg at night (usually around 8pm) when i wake up in the night to get something to drink im very dizzy and.....well the only word i can use to explain it is i feel drunk and dissorented. Then later around 10am i feel horrible. I'm dizzy, i feel like im sick to my stomach....

Did anyone else have this happen to them while taking lexapro? It never happend before when i took it, the only side effects i had before was a complete loss of intrest in sex.

My questions are, will the dizzy spells go away? I've been taking lexapro for 3 days now
and should i try cutting the pill in half an only taking 10mg? An is cutting it safe?

Hi Svt88:

Dizziness and nausea are listed common side effects for some people. I read that most side effects go away once your body get used to the drug. You should check with your doc about cutting the dose tho.

Hi,

Yes I agree, it is not unusual to get these side effects. You might also stiil be getting some withdrawal effects fronm drink which could contribute to and addition to the meds.

You should feel better soon, if not go and see you Doc for advice.
