Hey again, sorry about all the questions, you probably think I am one big hypocondriac by now.

My hair has gotten very, very thin, and frail. I have been worried, but thought it was just lack of vitamins, or some other reason. In any case, I tried to write it off as something temporary and un-scary.

But today I discovered a bald spot on the top of my head.

I discovered it at work, my first day, and wanted to just break down crying. My self-esteem is not very high, but if I go bald, then I will definitely get a BIG self esteem problem. My face looks bad enough, so going bold is the last thing I need.

My shrink said hair loss is not a sideeffect of Lamictal, but I did read that many people have experienced hairloss because of the drug on the net. Is this something people here have experienced as well?

(Should add that I have never had a hair-loss problem in my life. Actually, my hair has always been very thick)

Crapstickle? lol, I like that. Looking at the pi sheet, alopecia(the medical term for baldness) is listed as an infrequent side effect. Infrequent in goofy pi sheet language means it occured in 1/100 to 1/1000 patients in trials. Small chance, but like you, I have read quite a few people complaigning about this with lamictal. Personally I havent had that problem with it.

I have been taking Lamictal for a long time, as you know. I have never had that problem with this medication though i did have bad hair loss with valproate. Infact i had loads of bald spots and when it grew back it came back curly.
Side effects are a nightmare, i have been lucky with lamictal. I have had alot of problems with other medications, too many!

Speak to your doctor, see what he/she has to say
I made the mistake of having mine cut shorter, All i could see was my bald bits. I have fine/blonde hair so that wasn't exactly the best move, it's never as bad as we think it is though.

Thanks, it`s still getting thinner, but I`m in denial again, so..

Guess I might be one of those 1/100 then.
