I've been taking KEPPRA for 4 months, for chronic headache.

I've tried Sodium Valproate, Phenytoin, Topiramate, Gabapentin, Pregabalin, Carbamazepine before, only Carbamazepine helped with my headache.

The Neurologist diagnosed, that it's not migraine that I'm suffering from.

Upon starting TEGRETOL ( carbamazepine), I had a very low white-blood cells, so the doctor stopped it, and changed to KEPPRA.

Unfortunately, KEPPRA is very expensive, unless it's prescribed under an authority prescription, that I am suffering from Epilepsy, then I can get it subsidised partly by the government.

Nextweek I'm going to see my Psychiatrist, and thought of LAMICTAL, as it is far cheaper than KEPPRA.

But my concern is, has anyone experience headache while on this meds? ( Phenytoin does give me a headache, but I am just curious whether, headache is the main problem with Lamictal)

Thx

I have been on Lamictal now for, hum, probably two months and a week or two. In the beginning I experienced a little head-ache, and some nausea, but that was not at all the main "problem" for me. Both disappeared as soon as I had upped the dose a couple of times and my body got used to the meds. However, I went rapidly up and down, had mood swings which involved me being very aggitated and stressed. It threw me off, and I was uncertain about it. But that passed as well, quicker than I would have thought, and now I am very pleased with it. Of course side-effects are different from patient to patient, so you probably won`t experience the excact same as I did.

So, you could get a little head-ache, but it will probably just be for a period of time until the meds settle in your body.
If it does not, or if it`s pretty bad, then of course you should call up your doctor and ask about it.
