He is on 100mg clomipramine now and 1/2 tab of lorazapam for anxiety. he has been on this for about 4 months and has steadly got worse with his statements removing 1 for another etc. we see the dr on monday and i think he needs to be changed. What other meds are used for it. Orgintally he was diagnosed w depression and was on prozac and risperidone and nortripline but all of those are gone now. Any thoughts

Canarylegs-

I take Prozac for OCD. At first I had to supplement this with Klonopin because of the anxiety that Prozac can cause initially, but I assure you that it make me as near "normal" as I can possibly be. OCD is hell when it is full blown, but when it is under control it really isn't too bad. I went through nightmarish hell last April and May, but after I got on Prozac it was so much better after 5 weeks, and almost completely gone by 12 weeks. They say OCD causes something in your brain that makes you keep going back to certain thoughts like a broken record. The medication whether it be Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc. is to stop this cycle and let your brain return to normal thinking. It doesn;t assure that you will never have these thoughts or compulsions, but it will reduce them to once in a while rather than constantly. It is worth it to be on medication believe me,. It has saved my life along with God's help!!!!
