HDL Cholesterol and depression/anxiety
Assuming you have depression and or anxiety what was your last HDL level?

Only vote if you have had depression or anxiety symptoms for at least 2 years.
Use your most recent result.

HDL is the 'good cholesterol' and is thought to prevent heart attacks at high levels, and low levels increase risk of heart disease.
HDL may also be associated with depression and anxiety.

I'm afraid, I don't know my numbers for good or bad cholesterol.

Do these numbers correlate somehow to depression? Just wondering..... unsure.gif

There have been a few studies showing low total cholesterol was associated with depression. There have also been studies that show low HDL cholesterol was associated with depression.
HDL + LDL= Total Cholesterol

Eating things like berries for example can help raise HDL.

My HDL is 0.78 mmol/L LDL is 3.96 mmol/L & total HDL ratio is 7.8

It looks like these test results are different in Australia than what you use in America? Does anyone know how to convert the figures so I can vote in the poll please? Thanks

The conversion involves knowing the molecular weight of cholesterol.
An easy conversion factor is found after a calculation.

To convert mmol/l of HDL or LDL cholesterol to mg/dl, multiply by 39.

So yours is 30.4mg/dl HDL and 154 mg/dl LDL
