Hello folks

Maybe you can help me, I have had GAD with OCD for about 5 years, I really suffered tried CBT for years, excerise until I finally tried meds this april 2009.

I started on effexor, my dose is 75 mg, 37.5 in the morning 37.5 at night , instant release. I was amazed at how they worked, with little side effects I fealt flippin great after a few weeks on them!

They popped out on me for a few days, and I got a period where I was very tired and depressed, then they worked again. Then they popped out again. Then they worked again. And they popped out about a week ago and they dont seem to be kicking back in!

All this over a few months of being on them.

What the hell do you think is going on, I dont think my GP has a clue, it seems the meds do agree with me, but I feel kinda sad, tired and anxious when they pop out, not that im over whelemd just that I know they are not working.

Do you think I need to speak to my GP about going up to 150 ? If so what why should he increase?

Or do you think its a mood stablizer I need.

Before effexor I never really fealt depressed. Only anxious all the time worrying about my health.

Please please advise would love to fix this!!

Please note I cant take XR as I cant swallow pills!

There is a trick to swallowing the caplet type pills. Trust me I used to gag on them all the time. You have to tilt your head forwards instead of backwards because they float. From what I understand 150mgs is the standard dose for effexor. And if my secret to swalling the XR works it is better because it is always releasing the med all day.

You are taking pills that look like little houses as well as the effexor. They are muscle relaxants and I as well took those before and I found my effexor didn't work as well. If this is what you are taking be sure your doc knows about this.

I am not a doc but my doc would be upset if I told her I took codine for pain. She said there can be problems mixing them but I only noticed my nerves were a little worse for a couple days. You need to probably let your doc know everything you are taking. If you aren't seeing a p-doc you sould maybe think about it because they know more about these meds and what can be mixed with what.
