hi,
I am asking because when I had my first months supply of Bupropion I had a great sex drive. Just to see I have the name brand Wellbutrin this month, just started...I am curious to see which one has this side effect.
I DO notice that I was VERY thirsty on the generic, and not as thirsty with the name brand.
hmmmm

hey there
i'm new to this forum (this is my first post, replying to you, lol) but i think i might be able to help. I was on wellbutrin sr, the brand name, only taking 150 mg per day in the morning for about 5 years. it gave me a sex drive about as high as it could possibly get, to the point it was inconvenient.. but hey its a good problem to have i guess. I was off it for a few years and my sex drive was normal at that time, so a lot lower, and now i got back on it but was given the generic. I have not noticed any sexual side effects so far, but have only been back on it for a week. while I don't know how they compare yet, the brand name wellbutrin at even that very low dose was enough to make me a sex maniac basically. if you want that side effect and had it with the generic your chances are really good.
as for thirst, i got a dry mouth the first day on the generic, and my throat was tight, and i did not have that on the brand name. also on the brand name one i was
extremely thin with no effort and could eat anything I wanted and not gain weight- including multiple packs of hohos and fast food. I also forgot to eat frequently. Since getting back on it and taking the generic my compulsive overeating has stopped completely and my stomach capacity only allows me to eat something like half of a chicken patty sandwich at one time without pain from being overstuffed. I ate past the point where my stomach was full today and was in pain for a few hours afterward. I am anticipating a lot of weight loss with this, maybe more than the brand name.
Other than weight loss and high sex drive I had no side effects from the brand name in the 5 years i took it, I think it's a great medication. I think besides the thirst and jitteryness I have had from the generic they should probably behave the same for you. I think I might try to switch to the brand name because of the jitters, just because I know it never gave me that before.
Hope that helps :-)
