Hi All,

I am reading tons of posts about people gaining massive amounts of weight after being on Lexapro, along with other SSRIs.... I am not reading about people who have NOT gained weight. Are there any people out there who have not had weight gain?? Please share your stories!!

Thanks!!

Hmm... well the last time I was on it, I did not gain or lose significant weight either way. I've been back on it for a month this time and lost 7 pounds in that month (which I attribute to actually being able to get off of my couch and move around, being slightly less slug-like in general). I suspect there may be some fluctuations over the next few months though (especially since my dosage was just doubled to 20mg). I personally know 3 other people on lexapro for several years and none of them have had any significant weight gain or loss. I guess It's really just something that's different from person to person (or maybe people just don't bother to mention it if they *don't* gain weight?).

Thank you for sharing! I feel better now.... sometimes it seems like when you do research on the internet it is always a "worst case scenario"!! I am really not in the mood to gain 40 lbs, so this is good news :)

Hi CinCity,

First of all wishing you a very warm welcomeani.gif to DF!

I've never taken Lexapro but am taking celexa, and I have actually lost weight on it. Side effects, such as weight gain, will always vary from person to person as we are all unique and our bodies react to medications in different ways. I think like the other poster mentioned tho, maybe the majority of people who lose weight or don't gain while on an ssri don't talk about it as much as they would have if it had been the other way around. Glad you found the site, hope it will be a help for you and please keep us updated on your progress, all the best to you, Belle
