QUOTE (numbskullll @ Jun 30 2009, 10:07 AM) Is it normal to feel worse when starting celexa, I have been taking celexa 20mg for a week and a half now it seems like I'm becoming more depressed and more anxious. I'm very sorry you aren't feeling as good as you wish you were. Everyone reacts to meds differently. If you are feeling worse I would suggest calling your Dr or going to the ER.

It will likely be much the same numb. For me, I had the horrible worsening feelings, then things started to get better. I'd be happy for an hour at a time, then a few hours, then a day, then days in a row, until I finally was well for about a month straight. Since then some environmental factors have me down again, but no where near the level I was before taking the meds.
If you're feeling well now, it's likely that the meds are pretty stable in your system and are working for you. If you still feel like you're "not quite there", then give it that 8 weeks to work that little bit more. I know I had times where I was on top of the world in the initial stages of taking the meds, only to come back crashing down again. In my case I felt really good when the meds started to kick it. The good times were sporadic though. That 8 weeks is what it took for things to finally level off and my crashes got less and less.

Woohoo! That's how it works for many of us. For me, it took months for things to finally level out. I still have the occasional bad day, but NOTHING like they were before. I'd say out of any given week, I might have 1, MAYBE 2 bad days. Even those are normally just mild to moderate anxiety days. Nothing I can't handle for the most part. I really haven't suffered from any depression for a long while now thankfully. I suppose it's much easier to deal with the anxiety when the Zoloft I'm taking at least keeps the depression from coming on after the anxiety fades. For a while the inevitable crash after the anxiety was really getting to me. Things will get better for you numb. It takes a long while to really get stable, but you can get there. You're showing great signs of improvement now. Keep well on your journey to recovery and don't be a stranger. The more of us that are recovering and sticking around on DF, the more experience and help there is to go around. Plus, we all need a shoulder to cry on or a person to rant to every once in a while.
