Hi Joey,

I haven't taken prozac but I know that with a lot of ADs there can be many side-effects at the start, of which an increase in depression is one of them. Everytime you start up it seems as if it can be different for you too. It normally takes between 6-8 weeks to feel the full effects of the meds so try to stick it out if you can. Just try to keep in your head that it is the meds making you feel that way and it's not just you.

Hi joeystyles,

When you gave up Prozac last time did you have a clean break or go onto another med? As you know drink and these kind of meds are not a good mix, however there is not reason why they should not be effective this time around. It is normal to feel bit worse in the early days as PRT said.

So give it time to become effective. I was on Prozac and did well on it.

Best Wishes

Hi joeystyles,

Thats great, hope your meds kick in soon. I know what that is like after several changes of meds. Try to keep an active life going.

I didn't get a headache from prozac but I did have some other side effects. I also found that when I was proscribed prozac again after being off of it for years, that it didn't work. But I am assuming that my body chemistry had changed over the course of 8 or 9 years. The first few weeks of a new regime of ssri's is always the worst. Hopefully in a another week or two your side effects will be gone and you will start to feel some of the good effects of the meds.
