Since last year i;ve been taking exctasy everyday for depression caused by my schizophrenia until i went to a psychiatric hospital for mental illness.i've gotten out about 4 months ago...once outside my probation officer said she's going to make me go for a urine test every week..so i thought..i cant do anymore exctasy...so i called up my psychiatrist and she put me on dexedrine (dextroamphetamine for my adhd and depression. also my body took so much damage from the exctasy that the dexedrine is inaffective...my question is what meds are usually given for a completly damaged brain?

supernatural;

Medications are normal treatment for brain injuries. A lot of the brain controls chemical reactions so if the brain is having trouble or missing a chemical, medication can help compensate for the deficit. Ecxtasy can actually damage the brain beyond repair. It has been know to cause death. Did you get treatment for your addiction? Also, self-medication can be very dangerous so please keep seeing your doctor &/or therapist. Good Luck!

your brain is not completely damaged!! some damage may be permanent, but for the most part it will heal. just need to give it sobriety time <3 schizophrenia is rough =(. it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you take your meds exactly as your docs prescribed. also..let your docs know if you dont feel that they are working.

I don't know about meds, but I think a lot of the damage might just need time to reverse itself, the human brain is an amzing thing that way. Dexies wouldn't help much 'cause Exctasy is amphetamine-ish in structure as well. I'm not normally anit-medication, but if I were you I'd try to avoid taking any meds that aren't completely necessary, so that you can get a clearer picutre of how your brain is doing, and whether it's getting better.

Ithilren;
The only way to know what the brain is doing is by seeing a neurologist, getting a complete assessment, and with the neuro, determine a course of treatment.

I find it amazing that your body withstood all that abuse for so long.
