At least that's what it feels like...for the past three days I have been experiencing the dark thoughts and anxiety again, like a little dark cloud has settled into my gut and is wreaking havoc with my thoughts and feelings. I've been on celexa for 6 months, how do you know when it may be time to up the dose? Isn't 6 months soon to have to do that? It could also be that I started my monthly cycle, hormones, I guess, although it hasn't happened like this before now. This sucks, I thought things were going so amazingly well, and this hit me out of the blue. The good news is that I see my pdoc next week. I am just hoping this episode subsides on its own without having to increase my dosage. Anyone ever have little breakthrough episodes while on ad's that just went away after a few days? Ugh.

Lark Hi larkinthemorning, Sorry you are feeling so bad. Sounds like the visit to the pdoc is right on time. I don't believe that 6 months is too soon to up the dosage, however I'm not a doctor. I'm on Remeron and had my dosage upped at 6 weeks. Don't give up on the thought that things are going well. It may just be that an adjustment may be needed. It's hard when you feel like you have gone the distance only to have the rug pulled out from under you. Depression and anxiety definently do not play fair. Try to touch base with whatever you use in your life to calm you. Go for a walk. Listen to calming music. Excercise works for me. Or just calm your breathing, whatever will change your focus from how you are feeling. I also hope this episode subsides on it's own. Since my pdoc upped my dosage to 30 mg, I have had 2 episodes a week apart that were nasty. They lasted about a day and a half and then I was back to myself. Hope this is the case for you.Wishing you peace and wellness.....POPI

Hi Lark, I'm not familiar with Celexa so cannot really comment on that, but are you taking a fairly low dose? Maybe it's time to up the dose indeed. There is no time frame for upping or downing the dose, it's just needed when it's needed... If the feeling that you are having stays for another couple of days more, then you should really talk to your doctor about it and decide what is best.
Each medication is different for everyone, the one works for you, but might not work for me and vice versa. I guess each mind and body is different, that is why it is so difficult to find the right meds and dosage.
I'm in between changing meds at the moment, have gone off Faverin and Seroxat and now on Effexor for three weeks. Have been feeling very down for the last months now so I really hope that the effexor will kick in soon so that at least I can enjoy the summer a bit...
Good luck and I hope that this elephant will soon get up to chase another elephant... you happy and the elephants happy :)

I've been continuing to exercise and it does help somewhat, but only for a little while, then the anxiety starts creeping back in. I guess this has just taken me by such surprise, and it makes me fearful that I will start spiraling out of control again -- probably not going to be the case, but that's where my mind keeps taking me. Thanks for listening.

Good luck and I hope that this elephant will soon get up to chase another elephant... you happy and the elephants happy :) I am on a fairly low dose - 20 mg. So there's room to grow, so to speak. I think I just have one of those brains that always needs to know why -- why is this happening, what caused it, will it happen again, how long will the medication work, what if it stops working, why is this happening to me now as opposed to 5 years ago, etc. I hope your Effexor kicks in soon too! We all deserve to enjoy the sunshine a bit while it's here! Lark
