I have not had the desired and expected effects I was to have on the Efexor (in my country it has just one F lol).
It seems to work great on anxiety and panic but not so much on major depression.
Anyway, I´m already on 100mg Sertraline and thinking about switching the Sertraline to good old Fluoxetine which really made me feel good and worked to the point of me thinking, I am a happy clown on Fluoxetine, I must see reality again and not be doped, so I quit it and started Effexor.
I expected more from the Efexor. I am withdrawing it slowly now to go back to the Remeron which I took with Fluoxetine. Because both of them affect the same neurotransmitters, I thought Efexor would work like Remeron, but it does not. Remeron seems much more potent on both serotonin and noradrenalin related effects. Effexor only seems better for anxiety.
Anyway, I´m thinking about going to Fluoxetine instead of Sertraline while I manage the dose of Efexor off. This should take some 2 weeks.
Anyone ever took Efexor with an SSRI? Was it of help? Or with Remeron?

I'm in South Africa, and here it also only has one F. Strange, huh?
(sorry can't comment further, neither sertraline nor fluoxetine worked for me. But Efexor did.)

... so are we letting the Americans determine our spelling of Efexor??? Calling the UK, please come in UK - how many Fs are there in Efexor in your neck of the woods? ;)

Fredericosg, I wanted to add that I took Efexor with Remeron and that was a good combo for me. Worked very well. As psychocandy said in another thread, it's called California Rocket Fuel , lol.
But it may be that an SSRI will work with Remeron for you. You'd have to discuss with the doctor.

At the time I was on 150mg efexor XR and just 15mg remeron (both generic versions). It was the weight gain I couldn't tolerate, I'm already chubs. But it worked great for my depression. Yeah, remeron just made me pass out..., but not hung over in the morning.
