Hey all this is my first post...

So I am on my 5th year of college and still havent gotten a degree because I cannot focus and complete my work. Sometimes i cant even go to class so i just withdraw from classes at the end of the semester.

I have been taking adderall XR and more recently IR (generic IR) for a little over a year. In the beginning everything was great, i felt like a new person. My grades went up and I felt completely elated. My sex drive was out of control and I couldn't complain (22 year old male).

As time went on however the good effects started to dwindle as tolerance went up and I had to increase my dosage up till 40mgs a day IR.

After 6 months I found myself saying screw the world, I just want to get high. I started taking the adderall in higher than 40mg a day, sometimes I would eat 1/2 a months prescription in 1 day to achieve as much euphoria as possible.

Needless to say college was again going down the tubes. I did not want to give up adderall for anything because of the delusions it creates on ones head. Eventually my family forced me to give it up and cut off all funds and took away my car forcibly.

Two months had passed and my life was in shambles, I was completely depressed worse than ever and even contemplated the dreaded S word several times, no attempts though.

I lost all interest in love, life, sex, money, friends, family, everything. I was a dead zombie lying around my house doing absolutely nothing and avoiding all contact with people. It was the weirdest place I have ever been in my life.

I have always had terrible sexual dysfunction with anti depressants like lexapro and other SSRI. Strattera was a nightmare for me as well, painful you know what.

I went to my psychiatrist today, the same one who had me on Adderall for my ADD and possible ADHD. I explained that there was no way I was going to let him give me Cymbalta...yet another SSRI and SNRI? Screw that, I had enough.

He gave me generic bupropion HCL which came from CVS in a white sealed bottle with GLOBAL on it. 150mg once daily.

I took one yellow pill 5-7 hours ago and I cannot express in words the exstacy that I am feeling right now. Its as if I snapped back to my old former self when I was on adderall, except without all of the bad side effects like agitation, hypertension, and the desire to get high.

I also noticed that smoking my cigarettes tastes kind of nasty now.

Can anyone please tell me why this medication is working on me so quickly and so strongly? I see people complaining that they dont feel Welbutrin at all even after a month of consistent medicating...yet I somehow feel a measily 150mg in my 205 pound male body so strongly?

I feel better right now as im typing this than I have in all my years of high school, I am completely content and dont have any desire to get high off anything. It just feels so gosh darn good I was not expecting it, hit me like a bag of feel good bricks. Keep in mind I have a history of amphetamine abuse, marijuana, pain killers, alcohol, etc.

Now, I need some advice...

What vitamins or supplements should I be taking to fully enhance the properties of the welbutrin? I want to get the most out of this as i can, I never knew any anti dep would work this well....lexapro was total crap for me.

Will I be fine taking the generic version that I have?

Forgot to add...

I had done extreme amounts of research during my many weeks of agony and it seems the only way to fix oneself is to determine exactly which neurotransmitters you are lacking.

I personally self diagnosed myself as having a totally fine Serotonin system, but my Dopamine was completely screwed as well as the norepine.

Lexapro made me a impotent robot as did trazadone or any serotonin meds, but dopamine effectors always made me feel great. (pain killers, amphetas)

No doctor or psych EVER diagnosed me properly and I dont blame em...they are not you and they are not me. They cant possibly know what is going on inside of you, only you know and its your job to make them understand it.

Perhaps it is no surprise that this med is working on me the very first time I put it down my hatch?

My only concern is whether I should switch to the brand name (expensive as heck!) or if its alright to stick with generic. Also, what to take with this med to make it fully effective.

Darn....amidst my euphoria I didnt read some of the posts below before posting...

Seems what Im experiencing is just an extreme honeymoon effect which will inevitably end in a crash, and then hopefully return back to theraputic range.

Hmm I cant help but notice that this effect is exactly the same thing that already happened to me when I started taking adderall for the first few weeks.

Anyone else think its a little odd that these two meds have so much in common with each other?

oh well, at least I know from what I read below that since I am at least getting any kind of honeymoon effect, then it means that welbutrin is the right med for my brain chemistry.

Yeah, if you haven't read my post a few threads below I suggest you do so. You are def in the honeymoon phase so enjoy it while it lasts and remember to brace yourself for the crash that is sure to come.
As an aside, I think I'll be asking my doc for some adderall to tomorrow so hopefully my body reacts well to it cause right now I feel pretty beat down by the WB

Be careful with that adderall...that stuff is pure evil if you are like me and have lowered dopamine and norepine.

It can be and usually is extremely addictive, and causes people to have delusions that they are totally fine and in control while the med is actually taking over them.

I heard that caffeine pills are a good alternative to amphetamines for dealing with the WB crash. Anyone have experience doing this?
