Hi Gang,
I've just started WEEK 5 of 100mgs and I stated in a separate thread that I didn't experience any side effects, which I didn't, but I guess I spoke too soon. I felt a little better 2 days ago, for 2 days, but today it was brutal. I'm really down and weepy today, for some reason, I don't know why? I just had a normal day but after being up for an hour, it hit me. It started about 11am and it's now 6am and I feel the same and have had NO sleep and I'm not even remotely tired, thank god I have a full satellite TV package. I'm hoping this is just a fluke. Good POLL though, thanks for listening.

I was surprised to see that I am the only one on 200mg. I started on 25 for bout a week then 50 for 2 weeks then 100 for 2 weeks and started 200 today. Im not very confident about it because I havnt been feeling any better at all. The reason she up'd me is cause I am sleeping more and she thinks that might be an indication it will help but I still feel more horrible even though im sleeping more (probably sleeping too much now). What made me decide to try one higher does is because ive already put in so many weeks I may as well stick it out otherwise she would have switched me to something else and i would just have to start again.
the scary part is that she gave me double dose so that I dont run out in two weeks (cause they only make 100mg tablets) and I still have some from previous scripts... and im tempted just to take them all, everything in the cubboard actually... i went off the track a bit there... sorry

(((((Des)))))

I am SO sorry you're not feeling any better.... I do think you're doing the right thing by hanging in there, though, because it was at about the fifth or sixth week that I could tell a difference. 200 mg is not unheard of. I take a smaller dose, but I also take another AD med, too, so that makes a difference.

I really wish there were an easier way to figure out what will work for a patient, but it's still trial and error, and I know how much the "errors" hurt, waiting for them to kick in. Hang in there, 'kay Des? And don't take them all. That's an order!

I really would like to see you well, Des. You're a wonderful person and you deserve to be happy.

(((((Hugs,)))))

Hi, I'm on 200 mg so you're not alone. Have you asked her about adding Abilify or trying Seroquel or something of that nature? Soldier on because you are your best ally. Rainy

I didn't get much relief from 50. But when I went up to 100 ans gave it about 8 weeks....omg! I woke up one day and realized the med was working. I could go out again and not have a panic attack worring if I was gonna have a panic attack. I is and was the best feeling. I know it is so hard to wait it out. Expecting all the time to feel alot better all of a sudden but for some reason tey have no found a med that works like that. I wish they would. Let us know how you are feeling.

So it does take that long to work? I've had a few good day's and they just pass. It's been 7 weeks for me and I was about to give up till I read this.I take 50 mg a day in the morning. I dont see my dr again till july. How long can it take for this to work really? I guess I got spoiled by lexapro and wellbutrin that kick in in like 2-3 weeks. ermm.gif

I got in with my doc earlier and told her how zoloft was affecting me (throwing up, crazy dreams, waking up all night long...) and she took me off of it right then and there. Im trying lexapro again in a few day's.

Just started Zoloft 4 days ago. The dr has me starting out very slowly because (A) I am VERY sensitive to side effects, (B) small person, © had a bad reaction to Celexa.

I take 25mg tablets. However, in the first week I take 1/4 tablet, week 2 I take 1/2 tablet, week 3 I will take 3/4 tablet, and week 4 a whole 25 mg tablet,ha!

I'm sure it's still too early to tell if it will work for me however I have high hopes. So far I haven't really felt any major side effects. I'm kind of sleepy throughout the day (imagine that from 1/4 a 25mg tablet) but I do feel a little more calm and less anxious and haven't had a single panic attack in 4 days, yay!!!!

I'm currently taking a 50 mg dose of Zoloft, and I've been doing so for a little over a year. And I am much better than I was before I started taking it.

But I've noticed that, lately, I seem to be backsliding and gradually devolving to where I was before I started taking Zoloft. At one point does one normally ask for an increase in dosage? It seems to me to be impractical to raise the dosage every year or so . . . that's quite a quick rate.

Hello all I just started taking Zoloft 50mg. Its been 2 days now and I don't know if it working or not. My doc told me it takes about a week or 2 to see results. After reading all these posts its got me a bit worried that the meds will not take affect for a long time if ever.:(

I am pregnant and taking 75 mg zoloft. I am amazed at how awful I feel after missing only one dose- even if I take it a few hours late, I feel it. I used to take prozac and it helped me much more than zoloft, although I do like the zoloft. It is so weird- I think it doesn't work till I miss a dose, and then I realize how much it really does work.

I was on 50mg and felt like it wasn't working at all- I was going through a ton of stress and I do feel like things are a bit better.

Today I started taking 50 mg and doing pretty good. Not one klonopin so far! Yesterday I had to take 3 x .5 ofklonopin because of my anxiety symptom.

I went to see my doc this morning. I had an appointment and i'm now on 50 mg. Plus the klonopin when needed.

Cross your fingers with me. Its going well yay.gif

I just bumped up to 150mg. Wonder if there's much of a difference between 150 and 200.

(((CVOOR)))

Have you noticed much of a difference on the 150mg? My doctor just up'd my dose from 100 to 150.

Anyone else made this change and do you find it effective or not??

Thanks!

I am on 50mg but i'm wondering if I should go up to 75mg.

Zoloft is not like an XR right? I mean, should I take one dose in the morning and another later on if I get my dosage higher?

I'm not sure what I should do. Since I still need the klonopin and its been like 5 weeks now and although i'm better I'm not there yet so I figure I need a higher dosage or should I still wait and see?

I haven't noticed too much of a difference with the 150mg. It's been about 2 wks or so, so I guess time will tell.

Joyce, Zoloft is not XR so you need to spread your dosage out to 2 to 3 times a day. I believe that it usually takes effect in 3-4 weeks so it sounds like you may need an increase in dosage.

Thanks iowa. That is what I tought. Cause usually when I take my med in the morning i'm fine but by the middle or end of the afternoon I usually start to need the klonopin.
I'll check with my doctor to increase the dosage. Thats what i'm feeling anyway.

Great Post!

not had chance to read through it all yet, but i have been on Sertraline for 2 months now it's a relapse episode for me i was ok for about 4 years well when i say ok i could get through a day without getting so annoyed i could explode and in the next breath crying at the thought of having to face another day.

its a new drug for me never tried it before so i guess it's very early days but i know it's doing something, the first 2 weeks were awful, the side effects are not that great i felt like i was off on another planet but that is settling down, however i'm not sure if this drug is enough as i have some very big issues in my life at the moment and until they are sorted i can't really "move on" for want of a better phrase

I got from 50mg to 100mg on saturday. This is monday and I'm fine but more tired. No other side effects. I'm actually more able to focus and yesterday I was able to spend a whole afternoon shopping without getting all stressed out after an hour or so but I have this feeling of 'I dont give a D***' though. Is that normal? And will it pass??

I posted back in 2008 to this and was going up to 50mg of Zoloft. I was very sensitive to side effects, had a difficult time adjusting to taking medication of any kind. I am now taking 100mg Zoloft and .5mg of klonopin 2x a day. All I can say is I wish that I would have gotten on them earlier in my life. I was in denial about having an issue, and it got so bad I could barely leave the house without being sick. I am now able to have a normal life. I wish the best of luck to everyone out there suffering and I hope that they are able to find something that helps them buttrock.gif

For those of you who went up in dose from 50 mg to 100 mg how long did it take to see an improvement? I've been on 100 for two weeks now and feel worse than I did after about a month and a half on 50.

I've been on 100mg for just 4 days now so its hard to tell if there is an improvement. I actually feel abit out of it but I can focus more. Weired. And my physical anxiety symptom is actuall worst which kind of making me panicky. I think it gets worst before getting better but I remember in the beginning of the 50mg I was doing better for a little while. I guess I will stick to it to see if I finally improve.

HI,

I just switched over to zoloft from prozac bec I hit
my insurnace cap on the brand name prozac so we
are trying the generic zoloft. I am hopeful it will
work, the only side effect Ive had so far is insomnia
but hopefully that will pass. Bec Ive been on meds
for so long, my pdoc started me out at 50mgs for
two days then straight to 100. I hope everyone is
doing well,

best wishes,

I always suggest to everyone who is suffering from insomnia to take the med in the am. That fixed the problem for me. I hope it helps

For a while now I've wondered what dosage everyone's on and whether it's effective or not.

I've been on 50mg for just over 4 weeks and have found it helping a bit - but l always knew it wasn't a magic cure - I have to make an effort too!

The usual effective dose is supposed to be 50mg but l think a lot of docs increase dose too soon and you just end up with a whole lot more SEs. My GP (UK) wanted to increase after 2 weeks but I refused. If ater 6 weeks I still only feel a moderate improvement I'll ask to increase to 100mg, but not more.

I must say though the SEs have been mild (apart from nonexistant libido ... I feel 10 yrs old again lol). I def think it's one of the better ADs (if there is such a thing!)...

Hello everyone,

I just started my very first dose of 25mg of zoloft this morning. I have been on celexa for the past month and am slowly weaning off that as I start zoloft. I am ultimately going to be taking 100mg of zoloft.. Celexa was my very first ssri and was pretty interesting with some of the side effects, but it made my panic attacks worse. It also upped my overall anxiety. My psych doc recommended we give zoloft a try, so we shall see..I hope I'm not one of those people that has to try every ssri and medication out there before I find one that works. I am really hoping I will benefit from zoloft. It's nice to be able to hear about others experiences with these medications too.. I hope everyone is doing well. Just wanted to say hi! smile.gif

Just wanted to say hi! smile.gif

I have been on Zoloft 150mg now for just over 8 weeks. I'm def starting to feel better, but still not 100%. I'm also on Seroquel to help me sleep and stabilize my moods. Zoloft has helped my anxiety the most, but still wondering if it it helping my depression as well as I think it should. We shall see!
You will find everyone is really nice and helpful around here and most of all supportive.

Thanks for the welcome ajumbledmess and tinkerbell! I love hearing others experiences and I'm glad you are all here to help! =)

So, I am starting my 3rd week of zoloft and I'm on 50mg. Next week I go up to 100mg. This medication has been wonderful to me so far! I pretty much noticed a big difference with my panic attacks right away! I haven't had one since I started on zoloft. It's so true how you just have to try and find the right one. I started on celexa and noticed a big increase in anxiety. I stopped that one after a month and my psych doc suggested zoloft. Zoloft has been amazing... I'm extremely fearful of flying and usually need xanax to help me. I didn't need the xanax at all! I really hope this continues to work. I just wanted to give everyone an update and wish everyone well in their jorney to get better. Thanks for all the support! yay.gif

My doctor thought it would be fine to start on 50 mg initially. Since I've taken Zoloft in the past, and slowly worked up to that dose I decided to try 25 mg at first. I think even that was too much initially, because I felt nervous, couldn't sleep, and unable to eat much. So now I'm slowly working my way up. I've been at 12.5 mg for almost 2 weeks now, but am hesitant to increase to 25 mg. I've been having some insomnia and I think an increase in my anxiety level, although it is difficult to tell because it was already pretty high. Unfortunately, my doctor doesn't seem very knowledgeable about this drug or possible side effects, so I feel like I'm having to figure it out on my own.

Hey, I'm new here too! I'm on 200 mg of Sertraline, which I think is the recommended maximum dose in the UK. I'm not sure if it's working . . . I feel rubbish today and have taken Seroquel aswell, which I hate doing, but really needed it this morning. I'm hoping it's just a bad day today and I'm not falling down any further . . . I'm still in bed, but have managed to get washed and dressed - it sounds so stupid writing that, but it takes so much effort getting up The only side effects of Sertraline I have had are: terrible headaches, nausea, tremors, lethargy, and loss of concentration although I don't know if these are a symptoms of depression or side effects of Seroquel?

I'm 19 years old and I was put on 200mg straight away, I have been on Sertraline since May.

The first night after taking my first pill that day I was like a tranquilized animal, I was in my friends arms all night, not moving an inch, starring into space, since then I've got used to them, they have helped me an awful, I still have my bad days every now and then but without my medication I can't cope, I get very moody, angry, stressed and cry for no reason. Sertraline has pretty much been my savior!

Hello everyone,
I have just started Zoloft today at 50mg.
I came off mirtazapine 2 days ago which I was on for 5 weeks. Prior to that, I was on citalopram for 8 years which pooped out long before I stopped taking it.
I chose zoloft because SSRI's have helped me in the past and anything that works on noradrenaline makes my anxiety worse. I already feel better mentally from ceasing the mirtazapine and have my fingers ( and toes ! ) crossed that Zoloft will help me.
I haven't read many of the previous posts at this stage as I want to proceed at this point without any worries about what may or may not lay ahead. I made a mental note today to post any positive things I experience on this journey to getting well. I have found DF really supportive and informative and I want to contribute to it when I'm feeling good as well as when Im having a bad day. Reading positive posts on DF gives me hope that I can get better.

I'm also on 200mg Zoloft. At this dose, it has helped me the most. Now around 5 weeks. Side effects have been mild. It is without question the best antidepressant I have taken thus far. It has helped my anxiety the most. I'm more calm, don't get so angry easily, little things don't bother me and stress me out. The depression it has helped also, I'm not jumping off the walls, wanting to go shopping every day, or visit the neighbors, but I'm also not in that moody sad place, where I have these low moods.I hate those low moods. I also, have had depression/anxiety for years, and never realized or accepted it. It caused many relationship problems, and other problems in my life, it took this long to realize it. I wish I would have gotten on Zoloft a long time ago. It has been good to me.

I have been on 50 mg. of Zoloft 10 weeks now.

I could tell it was going to have positive effects on me almost immediately. I started on 25 mg. for the first week or so and then went up to 50.

The first month or possibly 6 weeks on it was one of the best times of my life! Very social, always fun and in a good mood. Unexpectedly I had a sky high libido and continue to do so?

However, about a month ago, it "pooped out" as they call it. I'm better than I am unmedicated, but am still depressed. I rarely if ever leave the house, but I am usually pretty social with people. I just have no motivation to do anything! Not good being in school and needing a job! And I cry pretty often.. :(

So I'm going up to 75 and then 100 mg. this week. I don't know how my doctor's going to do it exactly but that's the plan. I really hope it works for me after the dose increase, and doesn't just poop out after a month again!! Because when it works, IT WORKS. The problem is trying to get it to KEEP working.

200 mg Zoloft.

I just got bumped to 200mg from 150mg. Been 2 days, just feel more tired and woke up this morning feeling really LOW. Wonder if it makes your depression worse before better? Did you feel any bad side effects after you switched? What dose did you increase from? I'm hoping this dose will do it for me. PLEASE!

Thanks!

Tink

I am on 150mg. I feel very anxious and nervous. I cant get up the nerve to go out or leave the house. I have alienated the few friends I had and I just want to be alone. I cant sleep at night and I wind up going to sleep around 530 to 630am. This has been happening everyday for over two weeks now. I see the psych tomorrow, I hope he can help me. I feel like I am losing my mind. The other new symptom is extreme paranoia. I feel like when I do go out that something really bad will happen. It is like I am constantly on high alert. Now with the swine flu outbreaks where I live I am afraid to go anywhere that alot of people are at.
