I believe that 200 is the max recommended dose..... It may be that a second med may compliment the zoloft. I know that I take two meds, and the combination works better than either med alone. I hope you can find relief soon....

Take care,

I'm on 50mg and have been now for 9 days. It wasn't until today that I felt some sort of stability in my moods and a sense of calm for the majority of the day. I sure hope it stays this way because 3 days ago I told myself if I wasn't getting more stable by Monday, I was going to start intensive outpatient therapy and take a leave from work to get me stablized.....which I really didn't want to do. We'll see how I feel in the morning

Good luck heatherdn,

I hope you continue to improve! Waiting on meds to kick in can be very frustrating. Keep us posted!

I've been on Zoloft for three years I believe. Started at 25, then 50, then 75. It hasn't worked for the past two and a half years. I want off it. I want to get another diagnosis from a really good psychologist. But I also don't want to have to explain to my parents that I've been this f-ed up for the past three years. They think I've been fine. It just gets super complicated. There are a lot of reasons why I don't deal with it.

But yeah. That's my story.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have been on Sertraline 100mg for about a year. During the year, I was able to recover from deep depression and reached a "level" place. However, that "level" mood also brought laziness and left me with no zest for fun.

I recently went to doc and said I'm tired of being tired and I can't stand to let another year go by me. I'm ready to get on with my life. So, he dropped me from 100mg Sertratine to 50mg Sertraline and added 150mg Budeprion XL. This happened last week and the first couple of days I felt like I was in a coma - all I did was sleep. Then day 3 I felt changes but my head was hurting very badly. Now I have slight headache but constant ringing in my ears. I also take a lot of BC powders so I've backed off those so I can pay close attention to the meds.

My questions are:
How many days before typically moved from 150mg to 300mg. Doc said he would but I forgot to ask when. Said he wanted to go slow.
Will the side effects change (such as ringing in ears). Very annoying.

Most troubling is that my adrenaline level seems to be out of wack again and I get that same panic feeling as when I wasn't on anything. Could it be that 50mg sertraline was too much of a drop? If he raises the Budeprion, will he raise the sertraline again too. Just wondering if there's a typical dosage span.

I've noticed that my temper goes from 0 to 360 in a flash too. Haven't seen that temper in quite awhile either......

Any thoughts? I'd sure appreciate your experiences and thoughts.

CC

Hi, new here :o) I'm one of those who has to keep upping the dose because of it conking out. I started on 50 mg and now I'm on 150 and hoping to go higher. Is anybody here on over 200 mg?

I'm on 200mg. Could use something stronger or a different med though.

As of today I am on 200 mg. I started at 100 for a week, then 150 for a week, now 200mg. I only started at 100 because I was stopping Prozac when I started the Zoloft. I am, after two weeks on the Zoloft, noticing that things are starting to improve. My mood is improving, and my anxiety is decreasing. I haven't had a panic attack since starting the Zoloft, though I have had to use xanax almost daily to prevent that from happening until the zoloft starts to work, which I feel that it is. Today will be my first day with no xanax. The only thing that hasn't really improved is my OCD, but again, it has only been two weeks.

I am just now switching from Lexapro 10mg to Zoloft...
The doc is having me take 1/2 a lexapro and 1/2 of a 50mg Zoloft for a week
Followed by a whole 50mg Zoloft for 2 weeks
And finally 100mg Zoloft thereafter.

I have a lot of problems with the Lexapro (after a very good start on it) so I am hoping that Zoloft works out for me.

I just took my first 1/2 last night, and am feeling a little less irritable today and a little more myself. Yay :)

Hi,

Zoloft affects every person differently. For me, it is powerful in that over 100mg/day, even when taken early in the morning, it can interfere with my sleep...almost like an amphetamine.

I am very sensitive to all medicines and caffiene, so that is my clue for determining my Zoloft dosage.

I find that high dosage 100mg and above kicks me right out of depression and makes me feel like I'm living in the present moment, but after 3-4 days, I begin to start having trouble falling asleep and do not sleep soundly. Also, I start getting pressure head-aches that feel like pent-up, but blocked, grief.

So, I'm going to try 50mg Zoloft, per day, along with .5mg Resperdal/day, for my emotional disorder.

It doesn't sound like alot, but when I get over medicated, I get fatigued and begin to crave stimulants-then-beer, if you know what I mean.

Take care.

I was originally put on 50mg of Zoloft in college. I would say about 2 years after being on 50mg I had my dosage increased to 100mg. I was doing really well for about 2 years or so. Then I decided that I wanted to start weaning off of Zoloft, at the time it seemed like a good decision but now I think it was a huge mistake for me. I have started having my panic attacks again and it is the most frustrating feeling. I have been bumped back up to 100mg and today is the 3rd day I have been back on 100mg. I am feeling a little better, I haven't had a panic attack in 2 days but I just feel off. I am very tired throughout most of the day. I am just wondering if that is a side effect of increasing my dosage. But I also talked to my doctor and we thought it would be best if I stopped drinking caffeine because it could bring on some of the panic attack feelings, so I am no longer drinking anything with caffeine so I wondering if that is more of the reason why I am so tired.

I just wondered if anyone else had any side effects when they increased their zoloft dosage? I just want to feel like myself again.

I started Sertraline about two months ago at 50Mg and after I think three weeks started on 100 which is what I'm still on now. I didn't have any negative SE at first, but have since lost weight. I know that isn't typical but I've lost probably 10-20 lbs on and off. (Gained it all back at Christmas ;) but lost it again)
I have been having good luck with it, and my anxiety and depression have gone down a lot. I stoped having racing thoughts, and don't even worry about the things I used to. At first I did have a few suicidal thoughts, but not anymore. And well, I'm still having troubles sleeping. But that's no biggie.
I'm just sad I can't have alcohol! D*** meds. Haha, but really, I think I'll be off next spring (2010).

Still holding at 50mg, now at 5 wks. But don't really feel anything different yet. I'm gonna give it the full 8-10 wks, before I decide I need to maybe go up, one last time.

I didn't get much relief from 50. But when I went up to 100 ans gave it about 8 weeks....omg! I woke up one day and realized the med was working. I could go out again and not have a panic attack worring if I was gonna have a panic attack. I is and was the best feeling. I know it is so hard to wait it out. Expecting all the time to feel alot better all of a sudden but for some reason tey have no found a med that works like that. I wish they would. Let us know how you are feeling.

Im on 100mg a day.

Started out over two years ago on 50mg, quickly went up to 100mg. after being on 100mg for a year i was cut back to 75mg but that didnt work out so i was put back up to 100mg.

Recently i tried to wean again and this time i stupidly ran out of my perscription and didnt bother to get a new one, sending me on a massive downward spiral.

Im back on 100mgs a day and just waiting for the courage to go back to the docs and be re-evaluated

Hang in there hun! A few more weeks and you should start to feel better. Usually about 6-8 weeks!

I'm 16, and currently on 200mg of Zoloft. I suffer from Panic Disorder, Depression, ADHD, and minor Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder. Zoloft allows me to function like a relatively normal person, yet I've had the misfortune of becoming resistant to other antidepressants. I switched from 150mg Celexa.

I've been on 200mg/day (take the full dose in the morning) since Sept. 2006. It's been good for me but not enough. I'm also taking 900 mg of St. John's Wort (w/ dr's approval) to supplement it.

I'm hoping to increase to 250mg at my next pdoc appt (and get off the SJW...no serotonin syndrome for me, thanks). My depression is not completely controlled at 200mg and my OCD isn't really being controlled at all.

For a while now I've wondered what dosage everyone's on and whether it's effective or not.

Finally after a year of suggeling on seratline, my doc has agreed i can change the meds.....
I'm back down to 100mg for the next week, then next tuesday i can start on something new.
Sounds kinda daft, but this has cheered me up a little bit!

Finally after a year of suggeling on seratline, my doc has agreed i can change the meds.....
I'm back down to 100mg for the next week, then next tuesday i can start on something new.
Sounds kinda daft, but this has cheered me up a little bit!

thats great to hear. Its so hard to find the right med. Keep us updated on how your doing. Make sure you check DF for your new med. I'm sure we have a room!

I can tell the dose has been lowered. I feel like quite down

unsure.gif Hello all,

I just joined and I am sorry to say I won't be with you all that long. However, I was searching the web for "Zoloft overdose" and came across this site and all your questions. I have a bit to offer so I thought I would register and contribute this post.

I have been on Zoloft about 10 years after trying other SSRI's that had little or no effect. I discovered TWO THINGS: (A) DOSEAGE is important in that it is like a light switch. If your brain needs 150 mg a day you can take 50 or 75 or 100 mg forever and nothing will happen. But when you get to the "magic" dose of 150, the switch goes on and it my case it works extremely well. (Obviously I've been on it for 10 years.)

The second thing (B) is that you must give it at least TWO WEEKS trial and perhaps three weeks before expecting that switch to flip on.

I used to get severe migraine headaches for 18 years and at one point they increased me to 200 mg Zoloft to see if it helped. I was on 200 about a year. I believe it did help, although the best ultimate treatment was ACCUPUNCTURE for migraine given by an MD who was also accupuncture certified. That was the answer in my case after 18 years of misery.

I was recently upped on my Zoloft to 200 mg due to my present condition--death likely witihin weeks as opposed to months--due to Stage IV Cancer that's spread to lungs. [At this point, by the way, they won't even provided a "guesstimate" on time, only to say "Six months after diagnosis and you'll be there in a couple of weeks.")

Remember: Try a dose level for at least two weeks, perhaps three before going up on it. Jump up by 50 mgs at a time I recommend, and then consciously "evaluate yourself."

I hope this helps somebody.

I am finally caving to medication, therapy just isn't working fast enough.
I've been put on a starting dose of 50mg, have been on it almost 3 weeks.
I don't feel any different, i still feel suicidal.

first off if you are in real crisis, please call a hotline. They will be able to guide you in the right direction. It takes sometime for your body to adjust to the med. Try to hang in there but don't be afraid to call someone for help if you need to.
