I'm on 10 mg. Does anyone know what the dosage comparison is to celexa? Is that equivalent to 20 or 40 mgs of celexa? Thanks in advance!

hey, I'm on 40 mg a day. I was on 20 mg for about a year but after a while it didn't seem to be as effective. I've been taking it a total about 4 years. Sometimes I worry a little cause 40 mg seems almost unheard of.

Hey all! I will be starting 15mg tomorrow....I have been on 10mg for 5 weeks my pdoc and I think that I could use a little bit more to help out my depression and anxiety. Has anyone tried 15? It sounds like most people take 10mg increments. She said if I don't see improvement within 2 weeks of taking 15mg she wants me to go to 20. I sure hope I don't get an increase in side effects that I had when I first started, but I guess I have my ativan if things get bad. Wish me luck!!! Maybe, just maybe.... 15mg will be my "sweet spot"?! Heather

Both Celexa and Lexapro are SSRI's, but they are not the same drug. They are the same drug class. I wouldn't recommend doing that without a physician's ok. I started taking Lexapro yesterday at 10mg, but the SE left me non-functional most of the day. So I'm doing 1/2 a pill tonight and see how that goes.

Well, since I started this post I have gone from 10mg to 20mg. After 12 weeks I am now being moved to Effexor. The 20mg has made me a Zombie and the 10 and 15 didn't get my anxiety under control. I wish you all the best of luck with Lexapro and hope it works wonders for you as it has many people. To all of you who have responded to my many posts and have been here to help, THANK YOU!!!! I will now be moving to the Effexor forum. Heather

I wish my pdoc would have increased the dose when it started to not have any positive benefit anymore. Instead I went for 1 1/2 yrs feeling miserable on it and eventually ending up in the hospital for 5 weeks. Since then I've gone through cymbalta 60mg and remeron 15mg to 30mg. 4 days ago I started Lexapro 10mg and will bump it up in 2-3 weeks to 20mg. If this one works even a little, I think I'll push the pdoc to increase the dose until I can function again. Here's Hoping

I was on 20mg at first with Wellbutrin. Next I went to 15mg of Lexapro for about six months. I just decreased to 10mg this week to see if I can get off of the Lexapro. Still taking the Wellbutrin.

Hi All, --started Lexapro @ 20mg and stayed there for 2 years. Felt I needed a boost, so Pdoc bumped me to 30mg. Splitting the pills 1st thing in the am was a joke, before my coffee. Then bumped up to 50mg (20x2+1ox1) this past summer. I also take 60mg Methylin (ritalin) during the day as an augmenter for my type of depression. It works.

I am going through life completely numb, I feel no emotion at all. I've tried other anti D's before, but Lexapro seems to be the best. And by the way, my doc told me Celexa is only one fourth the strength of Lexapro. Sigh.

I started at 10 which worked fine for a few years, then my symptoms returned and my doc upped me to 20, where I stayed comfortably for about 18 months, so now I'm at 30 which seems to be ok most of the time. However, my new PCP says that's "outside the normal dose range" and wants to reduce my dosage. She started me on Deplin in addition to see if that helps and hasn't reduced my dosage yet, but I'm quite anxious about it. I've been on Paxil and Celexa before Lexapro, and this has worked the best/longest, but it seems after a while the dosage just isn't enough. Has anyone else had this issue?

Ive been on 10mg lexapro for about 3-4 months now and it is working great! but im still new to all of this. i just found out (from this site) that this drug can cause lethargy and i think im beginning to experience that. ive heard wellbutrin can fix that. i dont wanna be one of those people on 15 different drugs but id like to know if this will help me have more energy and drive. (i realize now this is hopelessly off-topic but any thoughts?)

I'm on 20 milligrams of celexa. I was on 10 milligrams of lexapro, but my insurance changed and the celexa was covered. I must be worse off than I thought without meds, because the 20 milligrams doesn't make me a zombie at all. It just treats the symptoms. In fact, I still have anxiety symptoms I'm going to talk to my doctor about and I get the jitters a lot.
I would never, ever consider going off again. I tried twice in the three years I've been on, and I'm ok for a few weeks to a few months, but my symptoms have returned both times. I have come to accept that I will be on this medication or something similar for the rest of my life.

I am new to this site, just started Lexapro/Cipralex 3 days ago taking 10 mgs once a day. It is knocking me out and I don't like this feeling of wanting to sleep during the day. I take it just after lunch and sleep most of the afternoon. I didn't want to take it at night as I take 100 mgs of Trazedone then.
I came hear looking to see if it is okay to cut the Cipralex in half and take 5 mgs, and from what I have read here, it looks like I can. Thanks happygranny
