I have been taking Lexapo and Klonopin for a little while now. Everything seems to be getting better, and my anxiety and depression are under control. I even have a big sex drive, which is something that I thought would never happen. You could say that everything is better...almost.

The only thing kind of standing in my way is being tired. Between the 20 mg of Lex and the 2mg of Klonopin 3x day I get tired. Actually, considering all that medicine, I don't get that tired. But enough to affect my work and anxiety. I talked to my pdoc and he gave me a small script for dexedrine. Now, some docs won't do this as both dexedrine and adderall are both schedule II, but at a small dose they just might. It worth a try. Now, this medicine by itself won't fix anything, but if you think you have the right cocktail, and the only thing holding you back i being tired all the time, you might as well ask. It made all the difference in the world for me.

So here we are now. I am on 200mg of Zoloft, 2mg of Klonopin 2x day, and 20mg of dexedrine 3x day. What a difference the dexedrine has made. It does have an off label use of being useful for treatment resistant depression, and it is doing a fine job. It is a high dose, but with my depression I guess that's what was needed. Also, I must have still been depressed on the Lexapro, because I feel so much better now. Sometimes once you get into a blah kind of feeling that you can tolerate, you think that your depression has been defeated. Now I know what it feels like to not be depressed. My cocktail is finally stabilized, and I feel fine. The Dexedrine has helped immensely. I also don't get tired in the middle of the day.

So the point of my long winded post. If the answers haven't been found where you are looking, look elsewhere. I had no idea that Dexerine or Adderall had off label uses of treating depresion. There are other drugs out there with treating depression as an off label use. I felt this one would be a great choice because no matter what cocktail I tried, I would ALWAYS get tired in the middle of the day. Without fail. Now everything is fine. I can only hope for the same for the rest of you.

Actually my doctor and I had discussed the possibility of adding adderral or something like it to help with my energy levels. I too am on an antidepressant and an anti-anxiety med but I am still depressed. My biggest problem that I know contributes to my depression is that I feel tired and run down most of the time, and as a result I feel an inability to do things that I know are proactive and will help me feel better. I think the next time I see him, I am just going to outright ask him if he thinks this will work for me. I am not too worried about him prescribing it if he thinks I would benefit, we have known each other about 8 years and as a result he knows I am not drug seeking, we have a lot of trust between us. Anyways, i see him next week, think I'm going to discuss it.

I've taken Adderall for years along with an antidepressent to deal with depression. Antidepressents alone have never worked for me. You may also want to look at Vyvanse which is another stimulant similiar to Adderall.

For *energy*? Say goodbye to sleep, because IIRC, Adderall is an amphetamine. Certainly there are better things your doc could suggest? I took Adderall for a while & hated it. We're talking days at a time with no sleep at all!

from wikipedia:

Apart from its most typical application in the treatment of ADHD, Adderall has also been used successfully to manage severe cases of treatment-resistant depression. Individuals who show little or no response to typical antidepressants, including SSRIs and tricyclic antidepressants, are more likely to respond to psychostimulant therapy.
