My anxiety causes annoying discomfort in my chest. I know it's not for any other reason. I wanted to ask if there were ways to relax and perhaps eliminate this crap. ugh.

jbii,
I wish i had an answer because i have the exact same symptom. It doesn't help i have elevated blood pressure with the anxiety so when it hits, i literally feel like i am having a heart attack sometimes. The only thing that i have found to help me is to concentrate on my breathing and very hot baths. They seem to relax me for a few hours.

I use to take adivan but I stopped. Now I take a liquid allergy med to relax and ease the anxiety. Breathing deep and trying to not pass out helps too!

I'm sorry to hear you have high blood pressure. I am 29 years old and my blood pressure is amazingly normal, despite years of anxiety.

My mom is in her late 50s and does have high blood pressure. I suspect it will be the same for me if I don't change.

I occasionally have the problem of the chest pains with anxiety attacks. As a woman the first thing I do is un-clip the back of my bra. It's superficial but makes me feel like I have a little more room to breath and sometimes it's as much about perception with my anxiety.

during my own anxiety troubles i often got chest pains, it was really worrying & i was sure i had a major problem not just anxiety!

however knowing that other people suffer with the same symptom made it a little better.

here's what i discovered, my own anxiety problems were coming from low blood sugar, also known as hypoglycemia. this is a huge cause of anxiety that not many of us know about, i wish i had known about it sooner as it could have saved me a lot of horrible experiences. anyway, chest pain is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and i pretty soon learned that if i tried to keep my blood sugar balanced then the chest pains went away (as well as the anxiety).

i still get them back sometimes if i've been eating really badly or having waaay too much sugar lol, but it's easily kept under control with diet.

if you'd like more information i can send you a link about hypoglycemia and other methods you can try to help with your anxiety :)
