Hey everyone, I've been on 225 mg of Effexor for about 5 months now and have aonly gotten very minimal releif from it (it helps with the anxiety and overall intensity of the whole condition a little but it doesn't help my mood or any of my other smptoms). My doc. tried adding lamictal to it but it made me even more depressed, which i thought was really stange considering all of the good things i've heard about it, as well as straterra and remeron. I've been on medications now for about 2 years with no response from any of them (I've also been on lexapro, wellbutrin, abilify, remeron 3 different times). My last appointment he basically said he's run out of ideas for me and just gave me a number for a clinic a half-hour away from where i'm at (I'm in college so this is very inconvenient). He said I should be able to get an appointment within a week, but it turns out I can't get in until the middle of april. So now I'm hung out to dry with just the effexor that isn't doing much of anything nowwith no doctor help anywhere and so i'm kind of just scouting for myself which medications might be suitable for me. So, if anyone has been on both effexor and cymbalta and which seemed to work better. I really need something that works a little bit faster than the effexor. I understand it takes about 4-6 weeks usually but it took for ever to work up to the therapuetic dose on effexor, and then I found it didn't really do much. I've heard that cymbalta works relatively faster and is kind of a cleaned-up version of effexor so I figured this might be a viable option. Sorry for the long post but I'm really in desperation mode and pretty much on my own triying to play doctor for myself so any response would be greatly appreciated.
