Hello all,
I was diagnosed with depression over seven years ago, but I've been stuggling with it all my life. Seven years ago I was put on Celexa, then Effexor and then switched to Zoloft. (I can't remember why) I was on that for five years before I was successful at discontinuing and remaining healthy for two. During my stint on Zoloft I put on a lot of weight and lost almost 60 lbs when I went off the meds.
Depression has reared its ugly head in my life again and my doctor has put me on Cymbalta. I was very reluctant to go on them because of the weight gain/loss I experienced with Zoloft. I have three kids and "crazy" is not an option for me. I've been taking Cymbalta for 3 months and I have gained 10 lbs.
My doctor has suggested I switch to Pristiq. It's fairly new and doesn't show weight gain as a side effect. I'm just wondering if anyone has made that switch and how the process went. When I started Cymbalta I was sick for three days feeling nauseous, vomiting and diarreah. I'm wondering if there will be a kick back from discontinuing if I am starting another drug of similar nature?
Also, has anyone taking Pristiq experienced weight gain/loss, or any other side effect that lasted longer than a few days? I'm interested in hearing about your experiences with either Cymbalta or Pristiq.
