first off.. i tend to ramble.. i want to give some background information on myself before launching into a question.
i have ADD and take 20 mg of adderall xr twice a day. before i left for school (i am a sophomore in college), i had a last visit with my doctor. i asked about a medication for depression & anxiety that would work well with adderall (and was not associated with weight gain.. zoloft made me gain an abnormal amount), and he suggested wellbutrin to me. at the time, the prescription for my adderall was really expensive (we've reached our deductible since then, and it has been free!), so he suggested instead cymbalta. his office recieves free samples of this medication, and he gave me loads of it so i would have a stock of it while i was away at school. he gave me instructions for taking it and always incourages me to call with questions or concerns since i cannot actually have a meeting with him while i am away.
so.. i have had all this cymbalta just lying around since august. i have been to scared to take it for fear of gaining a bunch of weight. it took me all summer (and starting the use of adderall) to lose the extra weight i gained from zoloft. i have gained a little since then (i am afraid of scales.. i rely on the fitting of my clothes!), but i am actually at an "okay" point with my weight. i do not function as well as i could without an anti-depressant, and have been wanting to get back on one for awhile. i'm really considering starting the cymbalta soon, but am worried about the weight factor.
so i my question(s) is/are: does anybody take cymbalta with adderall? how do you like it.. is it a good combination? have you had any weight fluctuations with it?
i have heard both good and bad about cymbalta in general, but i guess i am just hoping that the adderall would offset the interaction (if there would happen to be one) between my body & cymbalta causing me to gain weight. the zoloft didn't increase my appetite, it interacted with something in my body that just made the pounds pile on, no matter what/how much i ate or how much i worked out.
THANK YOU for anyone who sits and reads this and has a reply!
