Hi Gina! Welcome!

I am currently on Celexa and have been for approx. 2 months now. I personally have seen a huge change in myself since I've been on the medication. It is the only anti-depressant I've ever been on so I can't really compare it to any others but I can say that it seems to be working for me.

When I first started taking it I was sleepy all the time, the exact same as when I was depressed but as it started working I found myself having more energy and actually going out and doing things rather than just sitting on the couch. I still get some sleepiness as a side effect of the medication, especially about an hour after I take it, so if lethargy is a problem for you than that is a side effect you should be aware of.

I know that doesn't really address your problems with them working in the long term but it's at least something to get you started.

I hope that helped and hope that you can find a medication that works for you!

Gina, I too am on Celexa and have had excellent results. Began with 20mgs then increased to 30. Very minor side-effects for me. I was tired a couple of days during the first week and got briefly emotional [5 mins.>/<) the first month. Since, Doctor increased dosage to 30mgs, I've had no adverse symptons at all. Each day my mood improves, no anxiety attacks, no suicidal thoughts, sleep great and wake up rested and all, without an attitude! I've tried many anti-depressants, all with major side-effects and no positive results. So, Celexa has been a life-saver for me. Amazingly, I noticed improvement after the first dose/day and have had no increase in appetite.
Hope this helps you and good luck! rose.gif
