I have tried many antidepressants.. none worked as well as Celexa. I started taking Celexa 4 years ago after the birth of my twins. Just recently I asked to try and get off because I am doing sooo well. She said no, and increased me to 60mg. Oh my gosh. She was right. Just when I thought I was okay.. I guess I wasn't because now I am amazing!! I don't yell at the kids anymore, get upset at the stupidiest things, I am much more relaxed and easy going.. go with the flow type of gal if you will.

I have had many OCD issues for years.. Not any more. Nothing matters more to me now than making my kids happy. We do a lot more stuff together and I'm def enjoying life more.

It is always nice for those starting a new med to be able to read about a person for whom the medicine did what it should. For me I take 20mg Lex along with 6 mg Klonopin Daily. This has done wonders, and everything I hoped to accomplish has happened. If Lex / Celexa has done good things for you , please sheare them hear. It will definitely help those that are just starting the med, and are weary about it.

From the first post you took the words right out of my mouth i am in 10mg of lex started at 5mg for 2 weeks then increasing to 10mg
tried 20mg but had a seritioum syndrome reaction, so 10mg is great for my panic disorder and GAD, and i also take 6mg of klonopin daily
in 3 divided doses 2mg upon waking 2mg in the afternoon and 2mg before bed along with the lex. i cant believe someone out there is taking
the same dose of klonopin as me even though it was a post a year back it makes me feel better to know it has worked wonders for someone else!
i hope it is still doing the trick for ya! i know that i feel so much for relaxed now, no panic attacks not to many low moods and sleeping well.
anyway still early stages want to give the lex a good 6 weeks at 10mg to really start working!

Good bless you all and i hope lex keeps working!

Jayman

I started taking Cipralex (the European name for Lexapro) in december of last year, to help get me out of the rut I was in. I basically felt dull and unmotivated and I wasn't getting anywhere in my life.
I took 10 mg for two whole months without ANY positive effect whatsoever (only the common side effects like yawning, blurred vision, occasional headaches). I wondered how the effect was supposed to feel, and was getting skeptical about this drug working for me at all.
Then, in february, my doc upped the dosage to 20 mg. After two weeks on the higher dosage I knew what it feels like! It was like a veil was lifted off me. I stopped worrying and just got a lot looser, more light-hearted, more socially outgoing, more talkative, etc. I felt like I could just be myself without second-guessing myself at every turn. I am now building relationships in a way I've never really been able to before. It feels great and I feel like my life is on the right track.
A new side effect popped up shortly after I started taking 20 mg: excessive sweating. This problem predictably got a lot worse after summer rolled around. I thought, "well, I'm feeling pretty great, if only I didn't have this one problem!" So I called my doc to see if there was anything she could prescribe to counteract this bothersome side effect. She didn't know of anything, but online I found some references to the allergy drug Periactin (cyproheptadine) possibly being fit for just this purpose. My doc was willing to let me try it, and it works! Now I have no complaints and am enjoying summer in Iceland (my home country). Life is good! :)

It is possible to SWEAT in ICELAND??? I can't imagine how much you'd be sweating if you lived here (Australia) :P

I have suffered from depression and anxiety in the past, but I have been fine for the last 2/3 years.
I am in my last year of University and things have not been going well, school sucks, my living situation is crap and my boyfriend lives in america ( i live in the uk) So I started having panic attacks again 2 weeks ago, and then the depression sprang from that. My doctor put me on citalopram, which I took before but not when I was this bad.
The first few days I felt great, but that might have just been as I was looking forward to feeling better and felt I was taking steps. But then after 3/4 days, my mood has really dipped badly again, the mornings are always tough, but now they are REALLY tough. and then the mood stay with me, I do tend to feel a bit better come evening. But then I am back to feeling terrible in the morning. I take the citalopram when I wake up, but I am thinking of starting to take it when I go to sleep so as maybe I will wake up feeling better.
The thing is, my boyfriend is coming over the uk in 5 weeks, and I really want to be feeling better for when he is here, I do not want him to see me like this, I know this possibly fuels my anxiety, but I cant help it.
I just want to feel better and I am worried now that the citalopram is not going to help
I know this is for positive reactions and Its great to see so many, I guess I just need some reassurance that this is going to work for me. I am just so scared it wont

What if I stop taking it in the mornings and start taking it in the evenings before going to bed? Might that effect how I wake up in the morning? I just need to feel good when I wake up, or at least feel better, as the way things are now, they just dictate how I feel for the rest of the that day.
