I started taking 40mg of prozac a few months ago and feel better than ever, the only problem is I can't sleep through the night, I wake up after 5 or 6 hours and can't go back to sleep and it's been this way for about a month, I've had like 2 full nights of sleep in the past 30 days, which sucks because I feel so much better now, but am so tired I can't enjoy feeling good. I've tried everything from getting a new mattress, changing the room temperature, taking melatonin, no napping during the day, blacking out the windows in the bedroom, changing my diet, exercising, but nothing has worked, so I am thinking about going back to my doctor and seeing what can be done, but am wondering what she can do to help?
I've tried going on a lower dosage of prozac before and it was not effective, only the 40mg seems to make a difference. So I am wondering will my doctor prescribe me sleeping pills? or is that unlikely because I am on prozac?
Also, I always take the prozac in the morning within an hour or two after waking, do you think switching it to taking it before bed could help me stay asleep?
