A GP thinks it's BP II
The Psych who saw me for 10 minutes says it's just anxious depression
I'm afraid to be treated for the wrong thing.
I have a Hx of Depression for about 5 years (on/off, mostly on)
There seem to be four levels of moods: 1. Black hole, I want to die, crying depression 2. Flat, whatever, I don't know what I want, not interested in anything 3. A little less flat, able to laugh at some jokes, presents well, starting to get agitated, repetitive movements 4. Can't sit still, I'm going crazy, irritable, not happy but occasionally 'excited', prone to speeding, agitated, grinding teeth
I was on Celexa for a year. The first night I took it I felt exhilarated, energetic, 'let's go for a run at midnight' kinda thing. Then I was kinda flat for a few weeks, then somewhat normal (like #3) for most of the rest of the year. The last few months on it I got super irritable, felt like I was going crazy, very restless (an extreme #4). I stopped it and 3 days after stopping it I felt 'better'. Back to 'somewhat normal'.
I was off meds for a few months and seemed to cycle between #2 and #3. Still functioning. Then the cycling got worse - #1 and #4, more severe and interfering more with my work and personal life. I'm on medical leave now to figure things out.
The GP started me on lamotrigine. I got a rash and had to stop.
The Psych saw me very soon after and prescribed me Paxil and Topomax. The first night I took them, I got the same feeling as when I took the Celexa. I'm worried it'll be the same pattern.
HELP.
