I am looking for an anti-depressant that does not cause weight gain. Maybe it even helps weight loss. It would be nice if it had a little bit of anti-anxiety properties as well.

Thank you in advance.

Hi ChanelCinq

As far as I know Wellburtin does not make you gain weight.

Hi,

My pdoc says both welllbutrin and topomax
are good for weight loss. Both seemed to
help me in this regard.

best wishes,

this is good stuff i am going to write this down to take to my doctors. I spent a few years on effexor and went 110 to 170 i qiut it (bad mistake) a year ago and finally got down to 130. now i am starting back on an AD and do not wish to gain the weight back either I am still trying to lose the last 10-20 pds. 170 on some-one who is 5'1" is alot of weight.

good thread nothing worse then already feeling bad about yourself then adding weight to the issue.

Zoloft is an SSRI and yes weight gain is a side effect.

Of course, meds affect everyone differently. I've been on supposedly "weight neutral" meds that made me gain more weight than those that were expected to cause weight gain. The only med that made me lose weight actually made me worse....

I do hope you can find something, I know how hard it can be to get weight back off once it's on..... I keep losing weight only to find it again.

Take care,
Dewayne

Zyban (Wellbutrin). Although there's other meds which don't cause weight gain either. It's different for everybody.
