Ive been diagnosed with depression and PTSD however it was towards the end of my enlistment and I was sent to a family care doctor for meds( lack of time ect.). So I got given prozac, zoloft, prozac with wellbutring just wellbutrin ect. Never had long enough to work through them but the sexual side effects were terrible along with bieng very tired. Then I got out well of course now my VA disability has gone through and my meds are free so its time to figure out which works for me at my consult with my new doctor she is leaning towards the following
Nefazodone, a combined reuptake inhibitor and receptor blocker
Mirtazapine (Remeron), a tetracyclic antidepressant
Duloxetine (Cymbalta), a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI)
Becasue I had these symptoms
Prozac - tired, unable to orgasm
Zoloft - better focus less motivated unable to orgasm.
wellbutrin - So rock hard I coudnt wear dress pants, shorts, or anything unless it was 6 inches to big... Thats how bad it was no depresion help though all my symptoms came back.
So after I told her the following these are three we went over in the consult. I go back for my actual pescription in a couple of weeks with no meds things are hard right now I wont lie.
Any thoughts?
Hey,
Since youve tried SSRI's and wellbutrin as well, SNRI's are very likely your answer. You would notice a diffirence much quicker then with the SSRI's, as soon as 4 days after you start NR inhibiting is running strong, i had a simular history but much longer, snri's for some reason was the last thing they tried with me, because the first thing tried were tetracyclic anti depressants which showed no diffirence (i needed nri tweaking and tetracyclics were to weak there)
I had extreeeme sexual dysfunction and im very active with cymbalta, even more then on ssri's, then remeron joined the party and i came quicker then i have in my entire life just a day after i started (excuse my being blunt) i came just rubbing my pants a couple of times, unintentionally - and i've NEVER been so sensitive no matter what. You should try cymbalta or effexor first and check your sexual dysfunction, sex feels better and you'll be able to perform *most likely* but you wont be able to do your business for days, and eventually you'd stop caring.
I'm having big problems with this mixture at the moment though as im slipping further into depression due to not being able to maintain a structure on remeron and cymbalta, i just want to sleep all the time and im not going about my daily business as i should.
Note: make sure you read first withdrawal of cymbalta/effexor. It seems to be worse with cymbalta, google: Cymbalta withdrawal, though i cant be sure.
