I started 15mg of Mirtazapine around 2 weeks ago today. I was put on it from Effexor because Effexor wasn't really helping my mood or anxiety, so I was switched. The transition yes was a little horrible due to Effexor withdrawal but that's over now. The problem with Mirtazapine is although it's ok for anxiety due to the sedating dose of 15mg, it is not helping my mood. Now I know that above 15mg it becomes less sedating, so my problem is, the less sedating it is the worse it is for my anxiety, so I need to find a balance. How do I go about that? I could get my doctor to try higher doses, but I am worried about losing the sedation. My mood right now seriously needs to change. I know it's only been 2 weeks, but usually with all anti-depressants I've been through, by now they would be doing something to my mood to help. Maybe I'm just being too impatient but I've had lots of depressed feelings that really worry me.

Hi Tom,

All ADs are different and I wouldn't necessarily expect to see an improvement after 2 weeks. I would normally say try to hang in there but if your feelings are worrying you then I would go back to your doc asap to talk about things.
