My question is: Are there any meds that anyone has found that they dont gain weight as a side effect?

I have been on:

prozac (briefly) (couldnt really assess whether I gained weight)
citalopram (gained weight)
effexor (gained weight)
lustral/zoloft (gained weight)

I am fearing that I am going to have to go back onto meds when I next visit the doctor as I am having a really hard time, but I was just wondering if anybody had any experiences of these and weight gain...?

Thanks in advance

HI Rainclouds,

I'm on citalopram and have put on a lot of weight. It's very depressing!! I don't think it's the drugs themselves that do it, more the food cravings and sluggishness you feel on them.
Hope someone has some good answers about this!

Hi :)

I am also on 40mg citalopram but also take 150 mg Wellbutrin XL ... I have not gained weight from it but I think that the Wellbutrin offsets any side effect. To my knowledge I understand Wellbutrin is not know as a weight gainer...I am on several other meds so there are other factors...

I know a reasonable exercize plan, and stopping the junk food works for me. I did it last year but once I head into high stress situations food is my mommy. I actually walked for 30 minutes today and felt really good after....

I hope that you find the right solution with your Dr. for you... console.gif
