I am 19 years old, I have gotten good grades all my life, but I am good at inferring things and I was home schooled so no timed tests until college. I just completed my 1st year at Penn State, and was diagnosed with Depression/GAD in December. I've been struggling with it for years. SI, and all. Now I'm on Prozac and Buspar so it's a bit better.

I have terrible concentration, and my memory is just as bad. Sometimes I lose my concentration in the middle of a sentence, and have to think until I figure it out. Just yesterday I went for Rita's (Italian ice) and I forgot my order midway through, so I had to 'hmm and haw' until I remembered. Talk about embarrassment. blush21.gif I lose things and forget things all the time. On minute I'll have my car keys and the next it'll be "Hmmm... where did I put those things?" I have trouble motivating myself to get up and do things, I have an exam tomorrow and I didn't start studying until 9PM, cause I just couldn't find the motivation. When it's something I enjoy I can concentrate. I love to read, but I barely retain details from a book, like character names and such. Sometimes I have to look back to figure out who someone is. I tell people things multiple times and forget I told them already.

So do I sound like ADHD/ADD? I'm thinking of bringing it up with my psychologist.

The only reasons I'm doubting I have it is because:
#1 I get good grades, I'm smart.
#2 I have depression and anxiety, so maybe these are caused by that? Is it possible to have both?
#3 I have had 4 concussions between 1/07 and 3/08 so I don't know if that is the cause, but I've always been this way, just not as bad that I remember. Maybe it's because high school was easy.

This all came up because a lot of people at my school took Adderall to help them study, and since I was having trouble concentrating I took one my friend had given me (10mg). When my friends take it they are up all night for 2 days, completely zoned in on what they are doing. But I just feel... normal? I can read and pick up details, and my mind isn't everywhere at once like it usually is. It's just that studying seems easy, instead of the challenge it normally is.

Sorry this is so long!

P.S. I know taking meds not prescribed isn't the best thing to do, but I was on my last resort. This is the first time I took it, and I checked for interactions with my other meds first with an online interaction checker.

ETA: I just read other posts, and that checklist and it sounds like my life story! Definitely bringing it up with my Dr... any thoughts are welcome though!
