I have things I am afraid of, that scare me to death. I'm sure some of you do, too. Anbybody care to share a fear or two??? I'll go first...I wrote this somewhere else so I hope it pastes OK

A FEW THINGS I AM TERRIFIED OF

HEIGHTS: I know I share this fear with many people, it's common enough. I would never go to the edge of any thing and look over. Some people think nothing of it. That story about the man falling from the cruise ship to his death makes my skin creep. I don't care if the railing was solid and up to my neck I would not look over. Not long ago I was talked into getting into an elevator that had glass sides (remember the Towering Inferno and the outside elevator?) I got as close to the wall as I could, you can ask Lost because he was there too. I'm sure the scenery was very nice but I didn't look.

CRAZY FEAR: There are big dryers where I work. I have to lean in sometimes to get things from the back. I am terrified that someone would shove me in and turn the d*** thing on and leave me there to die.

ANOTHER CRAZY FEAR: If I am alone in the house (say Gene went to visit his relatives) I can't sleep in the dark. I have all the lights on and the TV. I also have to check under the bed, closets, anywhere a person could hide. I'm afraid if I didn't do all this, I would wake up with somebody in the dark holding a knife over me.

SMALL SPACES: I know this is crazy but I have this fear of someone forcing me into a room that is so low I can't move. A small dark place about 6 inches high AND I CAN'T MOVE. I have restless leg syndrome and my arms are restless. I HAVE to move all the time. This is why I take Xanax to sleep, so I can stop moving enough to rest. A related fear is that someone would force me into a vertical place about 6 inches wide and I can't move there either.

SOMEONE IN THE BACK SEAT: I don't drive anywhere at night if I can possibly help it. One reason is because I have poor night vision, another is that I would break down in a deserted place with the fear of people creeping up on me to rock my car back and forth and dragging me out. But my biggest fear is that someone is hiding in the back seat and I look in my rear view mirror and see some dark shape in back of me. Also there is always the "something" that would grab my ankles from under the car.

Of course there is dreadful harm to family members which I won't go into because I don't want to draw any one's attention (or any thing's attention) or horrible, tragic misfortune. Today's awful world events make me terribly fearful as well. OK I've said enough about that...

FIRE: I've had a fear of fire since I was small. I'd have terrible dreams about fires, such as you see in the west all the time, just raging, walls of fire. My greatest nightmare about fire is to be trapped by one of these awful fires with no-where to run and no way out.

OK there are a few things that terrify me. I am really afraid of my own shadow. I don't trust anybody because you never know what they will do to you and yours... lookaround.gif

We must push toward a better future for man kind, a future that can never take place, because mankind is a beast full of hatered, its heart is dark and lifeless, and mankind will never put aside its petty differences, oh no they have pride to save, they could not care less about any persons other than themselves...

Haha things that I am afraid of... there are wayyy too many to mention.

1) I am so incredably afraid of failure. That's why all my life I've been someone who is organized and plans things to a T. I don't want to wake up someday and realize I've screwed up my whole life because of one thing that I failed at.

2) Perhaps this isn't a fear, but more a hate supprises... OH GOD I HATE SUPRISES. I used to bribe my sister into finding out what my presents on my brithday would be or where my parents wher etaking us for vacation. My "suprise" birthday parties were never suprises because I pretty much made all my friends take a blood oath never to let me go to a suprise party not know it was a "suprise" party.

3) Physical contact- what a silly fear I know. I hate it when people touch me.

4) Ladybugs... I am practically hyperventilating even thinking of them. They are worse then ANY kind of insect or spider or anything... ahhhh I hate them. They like cling to you and it takes so long to get them off...

OMG moiraine,

I thought I was the only adult in the world who's afraid of the dark! I hate it! It is such an irrational fear, but I always feel like somebody or something is watching me when I am in bed, ready to attack me. I feel like I am in a scary movie, in the scene where the girl is wondering what's wrong and the monster is right behind her; the difference being that I know that the monster is behind me. Gah, I feel like a total loon.

My psychiatrist told me he thinks I am bi-polar, but not I or II. He calls it undefined or something. I really don't really believe it, but I am starting to think it could be true. Oh well.

Another huge fear of mine is seeing a face in the mirror besides my own, like when I am done washing my face I would look into the mirror and there would be a monster or something there. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

Daddy-Long Leg spiders. There are just vile and disgusting.

That's all I can think of right now.

Later...

I am afraid of being rejected. Because I fear this so much, I do things that would make me rejected by others. So even though that I fear this so much, I am self-destructive in making my fear come true over and over again.

On a lighter note, I am afraid of heights also....Like I'll jump out of the window from a tall building or leap of the ledge of a cliff to my death or something....Who knows!?

Wow....I didn't even know if anyone would make any reply....thanks you guys. Now I feel like I'm just one of the folks. Nobody laughed at me, but then around here it is a good thing to know whatever you say or think in the depression dept, someone else can identify smile.gif

Now how many people make sure not to hang an arm or a leg over the edge of the bed at night? There's a creepy THING under the bed with long claws and long fangs just waiting in case you do...and just in case you think I've outgrown this childhood fear, somehow the other I always make sure all of me is safe on the bed every night!

Hi All,
I'll add another fear. You know the shower curtain, most people have them brightly coloured and non-see thru for privacy. I have to have the clear kind because I want to know if anyone is lurking around with a knife to stab me (Psycho syndrome shifty3.gif ) I have real issues with this. If I have to shower anywhere else I leave the end part (if I'm in a tub) open a little......OH YEAH! Then there's the Tanning Booth

I refuse to tan in a tanning booth. I am afraid someone will close and lock the door from the outside so I can't get out and I will cook to death in there. Never mind the tanning bed. I won't get trapped in that either...I think I have trust issues. I think everyone is out to hurt me when my back is turned.... coophelp.gif

Heights!!! Definitely heights!! No way you could get me into one of those glass elevators that go up the side of a building. I can't even stand near the window in a tall building.

Claustrophobia. They would have to give me some serious Ativan to get me into a MRI machine!

Failure's a biggy for me, too. It's like if I get something wrong it's the end of the world.

And my all time biggest one: I'm afraid of drowning. I'm not afraid of water. I'm a good swimmer. I'm afraid my car will go off of a bridge or something into a river and that I will be trapped inside. I have nightmares about that one.

I'm always afraid that someone will come in my apartment and hurt or kill me.

I'm afraid that when I'm outside that people might talk to me. I don't want to say anything to them!

I'm afraid of being alone. That makes no sense to me to be afraid of being alone and afraid of being around people at the same time!

Being trapped - emotionally or physically! Sitting down to pay my bills, income tax etc makes me feel trapped - any sort of form - I feel as if my mind's being played with. And I hate being somewhere where I can't get out. I'll never have a MRI never, never!

And spiders. We have enormous ones where I live. People tell me they won't poison me but I'm not afraid of being bitten - I'm just (JUST?) afraid of them!

Hi, here's some of my fears;

1) I fear spiders, i dont mind tiny ones but i HATE HATE HATE big ones. Especially the ones that sit in the bathroom when your in the bath. They sit right near the door so you cant run and your stuck in the bath. Ewww...

2) Being truthful when i know people will hate what i have to say. I often find myself saying things that i think people will want to hear even if i think that is wrong.

3) Heights- i dont mind being up high but if im near the edge of something high, i feel myself falling and am too scared to move incase i walk the wrong way and end up walking of the high thing instead of anyway from it.

4) The dark- it's not the dark im scared of. It's the fact that anyone could ne in there and pop out at anytime. I see people in the dark that are not there!

5) This one is my worst fear and completely silly. I fear mirrors the most. I recently went to the hair dressers and had to look at the floor because i cant cope to look for more than a few seconds. This stems from breaking two mirrors so i have 14 years bad luck because of that and has anyone seen the film candy man? You look into a mirror and say 'candyman candyman come and play with me' three times in the dark. I did this in the school toilets when i was 10 and that night my friend who did it with me told me that her mirror had smashed! I also have a fear of seeing another face in the mirror.

6) I hate red bike lights. They scare me to death. I saw a Michael Myers killer movie and i remember you saw his face in red light and ever since then i have been scared of red bike lights.

7) Clowns- need i say more!!! It's their pale faces and bright red lips. The smile is always there even if the clown is sad, the smile is always there! Whats going on behind the smiley face? He could be about to go on a killing spree and you wouldnt know because of the smile!

Yeah so thats 7 of my fears and im sure theres more and when i think of them i will post them.
Thanx. XxXxX

My number one fear in life is dying before my children are grown and independant.

I'm afraid of going to shopping centres (malls) when they are crowded and going outside at night. I'm often afraid that somebody will break into my house in the middle of the night.

I'm afraid to swim. When I do, I'm in the shallow end of the pool.

I'm very afraid of bees.

My real fear is of losing control of my mind. I'm getting worse as I age, well, I'm more depressed than I've ever been in life, and I'm afraid that one day nothing will help me. unsure.gif
