Carolyn Hax once said in her advice column that a good blues-buster is to do something you've always wanted to do. Under this rationale I've learned to ride horses, had a threesome (not with horses!), gotten my nose pierced, learned to make candles, tried absinthe, and written a novel.
Short of the tattoo I'm going to get soon which I've bene planning for a while, I'm almost running out of things I've always wanted to do that don't involve lots of money or Johnny Depp.
So, how about you? What are things you've always wanted to do but haven't done? Extra points for doing it and telling about it, so long as it's safe.

In the last two years i've taken up scuba diving, learnt to fly light aircraft (ran out of money just after my first solo), and backpacked through SE Asia. Sometimes I can hardly believe that I did these things, but i'm so glad that I pushed myself to have a go. Next up - start a rock band.
I would also LOVE to restore a classic car and write a novel.
Cool thread, it's nice to see the flip-side.

I'm glad you mentioned that because there are some things that I want to do to make my life more progressive. I want to learn how to drive a car. My mother totally refuses to teach me ever since I was 15 and now I'M 25. She has stuck by her word. I would like to live in my own town home for just ME AND MY SON. Hopefully, I would like to get married. So please pray that it will happen to me. I would like to teach music. I'm going to school in the summer to get my associate degree so that is a good start. Thanks for the tip.

QUOTE(sharpshooter @ Feb 12 2006, 11:46 PM) I have always wanted to skydive, get chin peroced, and learn how to do fire tricks Wholeheartedly recommend skydiving and fire tricks. I went and did both. 4 years later I hold the highest license the USPA issues, the coveted D license, and am an experienced wingsuit pilot. Its becoming a career, something I thought impossible. 453 jumps later am utterly addicted to flying wingsuit down big puffy clouds, probably the only reason I never attempted the big mistake, you know? What you don't know is that skydiving is an entire hidden subculture with a very strong family/tribe undercurrent. Skydivers will do anything to help each other and theres nothing quite like crouching in the door at 14,500 feet scared to death, about to do your first solo with 22 other people in the plane all cheering you on. The sense of being surrounded by the most supportive friends imaginable is beyond description. Go learn to skydive and join the family and enjoy getting pied by a dozen friends when you achieve your first license, your first hundred jumps, etc.... Go.

This is just what I have been looking for! Recovery focused. My things yet undone are a trip to Tuscany, Sell my art jewelry in some botiques, learn to make glass beads, and get published. I'm working on all of them! Thanks for this forum!
