when depressed I find listening to choral music uplifting (I'm not a Christian) but I ignore the religous aspects of it. In fact any classical music is very soothing.

I'v also got an acoustic rock album that is quite good. And I can't remember the names of who is on it, its a cmpilation. But U2, Talking Heads, Sting are some who are on it.

i find that upbeat/happy music can never help me cope when i'm sad but sadder, darker music helps me get over whatever sadness i have. sometimes it doesn't work, though. however, at the moment i am listening to the smashing pumpkins {mostly b.sides from 'the aeroplane flies high' boxset}. i'll also listen to elliott smith inlove.gif, red house painters, iron & wine, some pj harvey songs {namely "horses in my dreams" and "we float"}...

i love music. :)

When im feeling depressed or , MUSIC is definately an outlet. I enjoy listening to Bob Dylan, Regina spektor,The red hot chili peppers, weather report AND Primus. I don't really like listening to slow SAD music when im already feeling SAD, myself. because it seems to only further accentuate the depressed feelings...though thats always what i seem to go towards. The red hot chili peppers just make me feel ALIVE man, which is nice when you feel dead inside and you just need that UMPH. There is ONE song by them THAT i tend to drift towards when im feeling sad, I JUST feel connected to the music.

here, here, i'll write out the lyrics.

ITS called--MY Friends---The Red hot chili peppers.

My friends are so depressed, I feel the question of your lonliness
Confide..'cause ill be on your side. You know i will, you know i will'
Ex Girlfriend called me up, Alone and desprate
On the prison phone
They want, to give her sven years
for being sad.

CHORUS--
I love all of you
Hurt By the cold
So hard and lonely too
When you don't know Yourself.

My freidns are so distressed
and standing on the brink of emptiness
No words, I know of to express
This emptiness

CHORUS--
I love all of you
Hurt by the cold
so hard and lonley too
when you don't know yourself

Imagine me, taught by tragedy
Release is peace.

I heard a little girl, and what she said was something beautiful
To give your love..no matter what.

I don't know, THIS song just makes me feel a little less alone.

I basically like C & W, Kathy Mattea, Merle Haggard, Hank Snow, Allison Kraus and many more artists. The stories intrigue me and takes my mind off of the bad thoughts.

I am an old rocker, too: Dylan, Cream, Nazz (Alice Cooper's first band), Led Zepplin (all the late 60s, early 70s bands). I get up and dance with these tunes (reminds me of younger days).

Hey Sven, just saw on your profile you're a bass player. That's COOL!
I play a little guitar myself.

I'm soooo glad there's something like music. It helps me so much. I used to play my guitar all day long when I was feeling bad. Unfortunately, I sort of lost the feeling it used to give me. I still play occasionally. Hopefully it'll make me feel ALIVE again one day.

I prefer Rap, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal to get me fired up. This helps me kick a good funk. When I meditate, I go for jazz or blues. So a typical music day for me might be a little Clapton, Bob Segar, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, BonJovi, Guns & Roses, Metallica, Tupac, Kanye West, Dr Dre, Eminem, Johnny Lang, Dr John, BB King, and Louis Armstrong. This helps me.
