I have suddenly stopped taking Cipramil after being on 30mg for the last eight years. I was having side affects from taking it like bad aching legs where I could hardly walk, headaches but just mainly a feeling of aching all over and very, very tense. I went to my doctor and he told me to stop taking it there and then as it was poisoning my system. So I stopped. Well it has been 6 days now and I feel so crap. I have this terrible dizziness that just won't go away - only if I lie down and keep still. Also I am either nauseaous, vomiting or diarrhea. I just want to know how long the symptoms will take to go away. I have already missed two weeks off work and I can't afford to miss anymore. If someone has been in the same position as me please help me. Please tell me how long this will last for and when the withdrawals will go away and if I should just go back on the medication and only take 10mg. Help please - desperate and urgent.

Stopping the Cipramil suddently doesnt seem like the best idea. If you'd just started and it was causing you life-threatening problems then fair enough, I can see the need, like the better of two evils. However, since you've been on it for 8 years !!!

Go and see your doc again. These are withdrawal symptoms you're getting.

Dizziness is a withdrawal symptom. You should consult your doctor again. I am saying this because you might feel dizziness for months to come. Anti-depressants should be tapered off gradually; unless I think it is Fluxotine; it has a very long half life as compared to Citalopram.
